More than that, I think some Christians don't want the govt. to have anything to do with their religion. They also want separation of church and state. The religion already gets tainted enough by some people's actions who also proudly announce they are doing the hateful things they because they are Christian. The worst thing that could happen for Christianity would be for it to be seen as having ties in any way with the mess that is our government.
Wanting to be good stewards for the earth isn't in any way against Jesus message. Denying science in order to keep damaging the earth might be against it though.
Science can be pretty alarming, especially when you ignore it and pretend that your belief in its findings has any bearing on whether or not it's true.
You do, actually. However, this is not a thread about that. If you want to get your ass handed to you on this subject, go start a thread about it and prepare to see your wish granted.
Jesus... is this where you present a snowball to debunk climate change or ask why if we evolved from apes there are still monkeys? Mkay. Maybe you could explain Ted Cruz's lies on the matter. http://www.cbsnews.com/news/fact-check-ted-cruzs-claims-about-climate-change-science/ CRUZ: "The satellites that actually measure the temperature, that we've launched into the air to measure the temperature, they have recorded no significant warming whatsoever for the last 18 years." THE FACTS: Scientists, including those who work with the very satellite measuring system that Cruz refers to, say he's misusing the satellite data. They do show warming, albeit relatively little over the period Cruz cites, says Carl Mears, senior scientist for Remote Sensing Systems, which produces the data that Cruz refers to. But by starting his comparison period in 1997, Cruz has selected a time when temperatures spiked because of an El Nino weather pattern. Starting at an artificially high point minimizes the rate of increase since then, Mears said, adding, "If you start riding your bike at the top of a big hill, you always go downhill, at least for a while." More important is what's measured at the Earth's surface, where people live, Mears said. Those ground-based systems show a greater degree of warming. The long-term trend that Mears' satellites show is about 0.7-degree warming since 1979, when satellites started measuring temperature. Ground-based monitors show a warming of about 1 degree during the same period. And 1979 was not among the top five hottest or coldest years in the 36 years of records.
The lies are yours, as usual. Like I said, if you want to start at AGW thread, we can discuss it there. This is the Ted Cruz election thread and I will not discuss this topic with you here futher.
LOL, who was the nincompoop that originally raised the topic of AGW in this thread? Oh yea: http://bbs.clutchfans.net/showpost.php?p=10355929&postcount=1702
This only sounds like a good thing if you want Cruz to be president. For everybody else, defeating Trump only to be stuck with Cruz doesn't sound like any kind of solution. I agree with the Republican establishment that Trump ought to be stopped (though I find it unseemly and undemocratic the way they as the party are pursuing it), but swapping in Cruz doesn't make it any better. Is it not so that current Trump supporters are also fairly positive about Cruz? If Trump got hit by a bus today, wouldn't those Trump supporters vote for Cruz tomorrow? Is it not the wet dream of cml750 and others to have Trump in the White House and Cruz leading the Senate? Cruz is not the anti-Trump. They are definitely different and would do many things differently with the reins of power, but the electorates they represent are not so different. I've seen something to this effect too, and I think that makes sense as evidence for Mojo's assertion. But, at this point, I have to think that a lot of people voting for the establishment candidates will just not vote if the only options are anti-establishment options. Are establishment Republicans so afraid of Trump at this point that they'd run into the arms of Ted '**** all of yall, I'm going to protect your liberty whether you like it or not' Cruz? It sounds like Chicken Little a bit, with the anti-Trump fear running so high that voters would hide in the mouth of the fox to escape. I don't know how high that fear is now running, but at least some of those Rubio votes are just going to stay home. Staying home is the electoral equivalent of giving a half-vote to Trump and a half-vote to Cruz. Voting instead for Rubio gives the delegate the optionality of delivering a whole vote to whomever. And, being able to deliver those votes gives the king-makers in the party bargaining power with the winning candidate in the end. I still say the establishment Republican is still better served by Rubio staying in the race, even if it means Cruz still wins in the end.
So odd that Mojo pivots to his strange denialist stance on AGW. (?) Perhaps is part and parcel with being a Cruz acolyte. I would recommend to other posters not to take the obvious troll bait, however. Knowing science better than scientists is a common theme from the Mojo/texxx/Jorge_Retread/etc group. I've never known (or really cared) why, but that road leads quickly away from anything remotely similar to a logical, data-driven discussion anyway. Typical conspiracy theory playbook, quite honestly. Another long sigh for our nation, in a season of lamentations.
State the lie he told specifically and somebody might respond. The quote actually says that what he said is true about the time-frame he mentioned. The current el-nino is going to do exactly the same thing to any measurement comparisons ending at the present. So go ahead and start saying how high our temperatures have risen to date while calling Cruz a liar for using an el-nino event to his benefit when you would be doing the same thing.
Personally I don't think that there is a good candidate left in the race on either Republican or Democratic ticket so no matter what I'd be forced to vote against someone rather than voting for someone. I personally think that the worst candidate possible would be Trump, and I wouldn't feel safe with him even being in the national election because you'd be one crazy thing away from President Trump and that's something we have to prevent at all costs. Give me President Cruz, President Rubio, President Kasich, President Clinton II, or President Bernie over that ANY DAY. That said, if I had to pick between Rubio and Cruz, I'd pick Rubio....but so long as states are not voting Trump, I'm happy. When it comes specifically to Cruz, I think the guy is a phony. He's a right wing Hillary Clinton who will do or say ANYTHING to get elected. I think he pretends to be an evangelical Christian, but judging by the fact that he doesn't tithe, I have to assume that's just for show. He claims to be a "Constitutionalist" but he seeks to violate the Constitution by running for president without being born in America.....so I have to assume that's just his stance when it's convenient. He has a ton of baggage that, in normal years, would prevent me from ever even considering him....but this is no normal election cycle.
I pretty much agree with this but I'm going to have a hard time voting for Bernie or Hilary even over Trump. That will be a bad day if it comes to that.
The left are hypocrites. It's the right's god given right to spread the word and spite everyone for it.
Slimy Cruz does it again: Cruz campaign falsely tells voters Rubio is dropping out in Hawaii. Claims "Wasted Vote" Rubio advisors tell him to drop out. Picture of flyer below. http://www.follownews.com/p/1bndy
