    I've actually thought a lot about the next big Galveston/Houston hurricane in the last couple of weeks. Seems as though we've been somewhat spared for quite sometime and I've had the feeling that it won't last much longer. No science behind it, just a hunch.

    Houston survived Ike fairly well and that was about a big a storm that can hit you.

    Thousand of people? Hurricane don't surprise us these day.

    On economic saving - I don't know. How much will it cost to "shore" up? Katrina total economic impact was estimated to be $250B max. 1 in 100 year event?

    That's kind of the point of the piece -- if Ike hit 30 miles further south, it'd have been much worse.
