    A) If transgender surgery is covered than any cosmetic surgery should covered. Transgender is the ultimate cosmetic surgery. It is idiotic.
    B) You obviously don't know what a high deductible plan is so it is more proof you are among the lazy unemployed. Just as I expected. It is very telling!!!!
    C) Seriously???? Anyone transgender is among the seriously f'd up!!!! Seriously, you don't think someone who is gender confused isn't f'd up???? You prove yet again that you are an idiot!!!!!

Not that I had much respect for you previously but by proving you are likely an unemployed idiot, I can never take you seriously again.

You're conflating cosmetic with elective. There's plenty of cosmetic surgery that is highly necessary. Burn victims get cosmetic surgery, people with severe facial injuries, cleft palate repairs, etc -- these are surgeries that are cosmetic, performed by plastic surgeons, and yet are widely recognized as being necessary and non-elective. Meanwhile breast implants (some, because implants for breast cancer survivors and similar cases might end up getting covered) and hair plugs are widely recognized to be vanity projects that people in the insurance pool would rather not pay for. If you can show a genuine need, you can probably get these things paid for, but we call it 'elective' when there is no genuine need.

So, gender reassignment surgery is a cosmetic surgery, but the relevant question is whether it is necessary or wholly elective. The insurance companies have procedures in place so that people who want to get the surgery have to first be diagnosed with gender dysphoria to show that there is a genuine need for the surgery. You want to say there is no genuine need, that what the person actually needs is psychological help to cope with the sex they are stuck with. The medical community and the insurance industry apparently disagree with you.

There's obviously a big problem with people going transgender just for the tax breaks.

Pretty f'ed up views. A transgender is not confused at all as you suggest. Believe me, when they make that difficult decision with all the scrutiny and mistreatment they're faced with, they're typically pretty damn sure about their intentions.

Do you really think it's a confused person who chooses a change that results in people like you saying things like this? Doesn't it seem like these people are so secure about their decision that they don't give a F what people like you say?

Criticize the guy for his beliefs all you want, but calling him dumb because he doesn't "know" that his work offers an HSA plan is ridiculous. Not all companies offer HSA qualified options and you can't have an HSA just because your deductible is a certain number. The plan itself has to be HSA qualified and the deductible is only one factor. Is not up to you to decide whether the plan is HSA qualified, it up to the insurance company to register it that way.

I won't say they are confused. They have psychological issues. We all have them, however some are more impacting than others. Do we cater to everyone's psychological issues? Gender is based on whether you have a penis or vagina, not some psychological issue in which a person can reject. With this insane logic, I can feel like anything my imagination can conjure up. We tend to refer people to psychologist who think they are other animals or other things in which they really aren't.

What scrutiny and mistreatment do they face?

I didn't call him dumb, but he did call me lazy. I only said HSA's are better than FSA's.

I remember how the gays used to be mentally ill miscreants and deviants because it was insane logic to think otherwise. I mean sexuality is based on whether you have a penis or a vagina so how why would gender be any different? amirite Dr Ghost?

"Academically" I feel they've fixated on anthropological and local social and media constructs tied to explicitly biological traits; I believe if parents discern it early enough they're justified in medically validated therapeutic, behavioral and emotional/esteem conditioning to reorient toward cisgender identity, but in a constitutional democracy once you organize and identify as a distinct demographic group and assert your rights you should be accepted socially and politically and protected legally. Otherwise it's just too easy to evict and eradicate any all disfavored groups throughout history.

Why do you say it is a psychological issue when there is plenty of science that ties transgenderism to specific genes? I just want to know how you form your opinion here which you state as fact? What source of knowledge are you using?

Is it Glenn Beck? Is it the racist pig down the street? Or did you just make it up yourself so you could be happy living in an ignorant bubble?

My opinion? If you throw enough money at anything, you can find a genetic tie to any anomaly. Shall we throw in epigenetics too?

We are not all carbon copies of each other. The bodies chemical makeup changes from person to person. It would be impossible to try and classify a persons sex based on this. Its pretty ignorant to try and justify a persons sex based on chemical and genetic makeup.

Should we start testing everyone based on genetic makeup and reclassify their sex? Should we simply let people choose their sex based on how they "feel"? (that seems very scientific). Or should we simply continue to do what we always have done with all creations of life, classify gender based on their sexual reproductive organs?

You said if he was at "least semi-educated" he would know that he has an HSA option that is better than an FSA. You also said that most companies have a deductible that "qualifies you for an HSA."

The implication is that if he was smart/educated he would be on an HSA instead of an FSA. But in fact a lot of employers don't offer HSA plans at all and prefer to offer their employees an FSA. It's a mixed bag.

Current science is showing there are direct links to certain genes relating to transgenderism. In other words, we are not too far before you can predict if a baby is transgender.

To discriminate against people based on a genetic basis puts you in the worst side of history. I suggest you do your homework and think about this harder before you keep posting ignorance and hate.

Remind me of the 3-5 years old that knew.

Gene or not, mental or not, if it's "medically" necessary or not purely elective or possibly dangerous, it's typically approved.

You can buy an expensive foam bed and have it qualify with a dr prescription. Probably some abuse the system to buy nice foam bed. That to me is much more controversial than sex change procedures; but I'm not about to have the government overruling DR.

Exactly what hate have I projected? It seems you're the one with bigoted mindset. You seem to get overly emotional with anyone who disagrees with you. Its okay, Im sure we could find a genetic marker for that too.

And you never answered my question. If a person is "genetically transgender", should we automatically reclassify their sex? Or should a person be allowed to choose, even switching back from time to time?

    A) No, you don't, but sex change isn't really different from cosmetic issues in which a person has a body image problem.

    B) Why do you assume he is eligible to participate in an HSA?

    C) I'd guess you are right there.

It's a fallacy to assume that someone that doesn't have a high deductible plan is automatically lazy and/or unemployed.

In fact, that assumption is ludicrous
