You seriously think this vagabond of a player has any pull with other NBA players? I mean he has had more than enough chances to establish himself as a worthwhile NBA player, and has never done it. I liked the guy in college and coming into the NBA - but he has been a bust. DD
What do you mean titles, according to many here we are successful because we got to the WCF, I mean with that standard he is a lot better off in OKC. DD
I think Durant goes to the Blazers. That team has been killing it. They look like they're on the cusp of being a legit contender. They have an elite backcourt, great chemistry, young, and a Warriors type system that works well. Everything about that team is good and on the rise. They also have a ton of cap space, and probably could afford to sign Durant and also go after a couple other significant free agents as well. Blazers can do some major damage in the playoffs.. and if they upset Okc, I know Durant will take notice. Imo, Durant to Blazers makes a lot more sense than Durant to Rockets, just from a winning perspective.
Morey's pitch to Durant - "come here and we let you pick everything.. coaches, uniforms, lockers, energy drinks. Heck you can be the GM if you want to"
You're assuming they both want to stay in OKC. If westbrook is planning on leaving, then it doesn't matter who's better. Durant has to follow WB or go where he wants. Maybe OKC does very well in the playoffs and they stay, or not...who knows. There have been rumors that WB prefers to play in LA or NY.
Durant will sign a one year deal back to OKC. Leave a year earlier than Russ and leave some money on the table? Nah Leave or re-sign the same year as Russ? Yes Sign a long term deal without knowing what Westbrook will do? Nah
Fair enough, I don't mind us trying, but all 32 teams will be trying and we are not exactly a destination location. DD
Personally I dont think WB is better than Harden. I also think Harden style meshes a lot better with KD. WB is a stat stuffer but he also seeks out assists and plays with KD which inflates a lot of what he does imo. He's a great player but last year he was doing more chucking and vall domination than any player ever and how did he do? Played .500 ball and it was ugly to watch he was getting 8-10 TOs a game to go with all those triple doubles. Gast foward to now and many here think that's what harden is doing and if you go look at the stats its not even close. I don't think team success is going to play much into what KD thinks about houston. Sometimes a change of scenery is what is needed. They haven't gotten it down in 9 years in OKC they have no money or picks to get better for the future. If they can't get it done this year I don't see why he would think that's going to change moving foward.
Lol, I know we're all salty around here about the Rockets... But Jesus Christ, DD... Just give some hope and step off the ledge, haha because the Rockets are on a ****ty downward spiral. Obviously I know, and yes we all know... Durant won't join this dumpster fire, but... Let's just pretend, because it's definitely a better possibility than the Rockets beating the Spurs/Warriors
And tonight is why KD is as good as gone from OKC imo. 5 points in the last 7 min of the 4th quarter, Blew a 20 point lead also. Down 3 with 13 seconds and WB runs down court and chucks a running 3 with 3 defenders around him with over 10 seconds left on the clock. WB plays hard and puts up gaudy numbers but if you guys around here think u can't win a championship with Harden well imo your never winning one with that WB he's to sporadic and out of control and gets in KDs way. Okc is going to get passed up by the clips and fall to the 4 seed which means they got GS in the second round which means KD and company will be out the playoffs by mid May. KD should have had the last shot what the hell was WB thinking.
I agree, I don't think KD likes to play with RW as much as people think. Russell is a shooting guard in a point guard body. Durant is likely leaving imo
This. And then the Rockets will kick the can down the road one more year for a shot to sign both Westbrook and Durant. i.e. reunite the band. Bye Bye Howard, and the team will be gutted shooting for a 2017 lottery pick to form a big 4. Harden's minutes will be capped at 30 per game to extend his prime. I believe this is Morey's plan. Will Les allow it?
Westbrook, like Harden, will have to become a shooting guard and yield playmaking duties to true playmaker. He, like Harden, is simply not creative enough to control so many possessions.
I think there is one part of the Michael Beasley signing that I haven't seen mentioned anywhere. Beasley and Durant are childhood friends and won championships on the same AAU team in the DC area. There used to be those that thought Ty Lawson would be one more person to help in the recruiting of KD to Houston. If Morey really believed that, then it makes sense that when they had to cut Lawson for cap reasons that they bring in Beasley. Morey isn't taking his eyes of the real prize this offseason.
This is the only solution that makes sense to me. Signing for one year in OKC also aligns him with the HUGE free agency bonanza of 2018.
