I guess for something like county party chair this might not be that surprising. A lot of these positions easily get hijacked because there is so little participation.

At last night's Dem caucus I attended they were literally begging people to fill positions.

Once the arbitrary, but generally understood, line of civility has been erased, the descent into chaos becomes inevitable. It's only civility that keeps us from killing each other over common differences.

The question will be the extent of the infection, just the GOP or all of democracy.

I can't repeat the tweets. It's something to see.

    OK, just one:

"Would Hillary Clinton swallow all of your *** or would it be more of a Lorena Bobbitt situation?" Again, moderators, that is from Mr. Morrow- I'm just the messenger.

People like this are just out for attention and most likely feel a lot of frustration in their own lives so just act out. I feel bad for the Republicans of Travis County otherwise someone like this would be best ignored.

Same person that accused Chelsea Clinton of being the b*stard child of Vince Foster (that's why she had him killed, ya know) or possibly Web Hubbell, and then put out a monetary reward for any guy who could document having sex with Rick Perry.

He's Alex Jones in a golf shirt.

With respect to party officials I don't know why it should reflect any popular vote, even that of registered partisans.

Tbh I'm sure that happens a lot. Should be blaming the lack of campaigning from the opposition or the local media. I'm sure a lot of the people who voted for him may not have if they knew who he was or what his views were.

He doesn't seem much different than the republican presidential nominee.

Or...you could do your research for i don't know, 5 mins on say, ballotpedia.org and fill out a sample ballot. You can take it into the both with you too. I don't know, that's what me and my GF do.

I agree. People don't realize how each step leaves a deep footprint. These things are hard to erase and perhaps impossible to walk back.

The internet has been terrible for civility and cooperation, by all evidence. Or at least in politics, we're seeing short term "victories" prized over any longterm health.

GOP was stupid to let a rich Yankee like Trump take over the party and now they are even stupider to try and alienate his HUGE momentum and vote totals. What a train wreck. GOP will appreciate these words, "for whatsoever a man soweth, that shall he also reap"

Politicians have always done this but were coy about it. This is out in the open, I've never seen it myself.

Also, I've heard complaints for years, people don't vote, how do we get more people to vote. Finally this guy does it and we can't allow it. Unprecedented.

I can't even find Robert Morrow on Ballotpedia for County Chair of the Republican Party on Travis County. This site didn't even have a bio on either candidate ( http://travisvoterinfo.com/travis-county-political-races.html#republicanprimary ).

Maybe they should consider adding an "Abstain" option in the ballot. I know anyone can abstain by not selecting someone but maybe some people who vote don't know that or feel obligated to select somebody.

...I think the thing with this, in regards to voting and who votes and whose votes should count...

...is that somebody mentioned that, in a county of 1.1 million residents...barely 30,000 of them bothered to vote.

...whatever the reasons for that are, that's a GINORMONGOUS hole to leave in something like that, and try to feign concern about whatever happens to step into it...

...more than ever it seems...we might actually have to start looking at FINALLY overhauling our voting system in this country.

...the only "delegated" representatives we need are the ones that are elected by majority vote...and not by default...

...country's too big for that anymore...and technology and transportation are light years ahead of where they were when most of these things were established.

...we can (and really SHOULD) do all we can to make this about one person, one vote...not only because it would give much better sample sizes of data to correlate and follow (and possibly leave less room for hucksters and shysters and all-around bad seeds to slither into anything remotely resembling a public office)...

...it's just plain makes more sense.

...well, to some dumb, whiny, lazy Negro like me, anyway...

this dude is alex jones and gary busey's love child.

as someone mentioned, he only won b/c his name was first on the ballot. i heard an interview with him and he knew exactly what he was doing. he threw out some statistic about how the first person listed wins like 65% of the time (cant remember exact number, but it was pretty high) and he knew that most people dont even know who the republican country chair is. he said he did not campaign at all or spend any money on his campaign.

this dude is throwing molotov cocktails of pure awesome! and its not like this stuff is totally coming out of nowhere...the perry gay rumors have been floating around austin since he took office. the george bush I pedo thing is probably in regards to the scandal during his presidency where some republican (and democrat) congressmen were caught with teenage boys. jeff gannon, larry craig, republican state rep paying to give undercover cop a bj. maybe this fella knows something?

voting blindly like this is actually worse than just staying home. leave it to people who know what they want! if i dont know who the candidates are, what they are about or i dont support any of them i just leave it blank. however, this being the republican party i think it is absolutely hilarious! just a great symbol of the sinking poop ship that is the GOP.

Speaking of the GOP/Trump divide, where is RocketsLegend?

Once we made a $200 tipjar bet, he disappeared. I bet him that Trump wouldn't get keys to the White House. He thinks it's going to be a cakewalk against Hillary.
