Didn't he just get charged for price fixing?

Sounds like a hit or he faked his death to me.

    Maybe he snitched.

So his company (Chesapeake Energy) made an agreement with another company to not outbid each other for the same plot of land. Isn't that just smart business? It definitely doesn't justify the 10 year prison sentence he was facing. I wouldn't blame him for feeling like that was a bunch of bull$hit.

I mean, should Morey go to prison for helping Hinke out? Vice versa? ;)

Um, yeah. It's illegal. It's called Price Fixing and you really have zero defense against it when the FTC finds out about it.

Collusion is very much illegal. I'm sure you wouldn't view it so lightly if you were one of the landowners they were bidding on leases for. Them coming to an illegal agreement to keep the price you would receive down takes a lot of money out of your pockets.

Honestly...I wouldn't be shocked if he faked his own death and dipped.

Google, Apple, and other Silicon Valley corporations have similar agreements with regards to each other's employees. Perfectly legal. No one went to jail.

What?? They were screwing people out of money by colluding, and fixing prices. Landowners were getting squeezed because these greedy scumbags were pinching pennies. Not only is it highly illegal, but it's certainly worthy of a 10 year prison sentence.

Does sound like suicide, but not a bad life.

Leave your family generational money and die at a somewhat old age.

If he instilled investment mentality to his family's younger generation, A+ life.
