    That's the most logical explanation.

Howard must know Fegan is willing to screw Howard after the Parson's deal came out. We could have kept Parson's on the cheap contract for another year.

Howard needs an image makeover. I hope he realizes this and goes for someone who will prioritize that as opposed to the exact dollar figure of his next contract. I mean, sure it might be his last big one, but this is the modern era. A superstar's brand has the potential to extend beyond his playing days.

And a more favorable image of Howard would benefit the Rockets twice over as well.

If the public knew the things Dwight has done for individuals in the community they would think differently of him. We're talking on his own, no cameras or media coverage. Beyond all his faults he's a real giving dude.

The media would rather talk about his rift w/ Kobe 4-5 years ago that they've already squashed

so funny about some shlt here.
Howard has been a maximum player and will still be, yet some fans expect him to get minimum pay this summer?

He is not max. Has no inside game and still can't shoot ft's. Let him be max on a small market and see how well that turns out for him

What percent do these agents get?

Maybe Dwight should just do a deal directly with the Rockets without an agent, save the commission and state income tax, too.

It would also be good pr for him. He doesn't abandon the struggling Rockets and is on such good terms with team management and is now such a straight shooter. Of course it calls for Les to be a straight shooter also.

What does this do? Nothing really. Biggest issue with Dwight is his lack of consistent production on the court and total lack of synergy with Harden and his offense.

Hopefully Dwight realizes he's not a max money guy and comes back for cheap and embraces the role of D. Jordan or T. Chandler. It would be the only way Morey should consider re-signing him.

He has been rehabbing his image ever since he got to Houston. What missteps has he made during that time?

Not true it's capped at 4% and probably around 3% due to the size of Dwight's contract. Agents make money on the promotional/marketing around 15% to 20% of those contracts. Like James agent may get $30 mln off the $200 mln Adidas deal

I am baffled by the posters who bash agents and recommend players to represent themselves. There are tons of intricacies to contracts (stipulations, clauses, incentives) that a basketball player just simply don't understand. If you cut an agent off completely and start negotiating on your own, you better be damn sure you understand everything in the contracts or otherwise, you'll be the one getting screwed.

Also, negotiation is a very emotional task. How can you play for a team with the right frame of mind if you're stuck for a week negotiating every intricate detail of your contract???

If you're player, do what you do best, which is play ball. Don't get distracted by the business side of things because it ain't pretty.

That is a good news. Howard could return to the rockets at a reasonable price. By the way, why does he need an agent? Everything seems to be standards in NBA, there is no point to pay 10% to someone else. If he does not argue with the rockets, just let his wife or a family member to handle it.
