If MT goes and Ty goes too then maybe Morey has two players he wanted all along. I mean we tried to trade 2 players and would've freed up 2 roster spots. We'd have to figure out to work it out with the cap of course.
Been real Lowkey...really loved the fact the dude has a quick release. Wish him the best with the rest of his career. I think he really wanted to use Houston to propel him into a nice contract for the summer. Unfortunately for him, the Rockets just started very poorly. Think a player like Marcus couldve helped in a postseason matchup against good shooting teams, but he just wasnt a good fit.
Yet, people still will blame JBB and Harden for Thornton's failures. Cutting Thornton, his inconsistent minutes and the failed trade itself are the answers to who Bickerstaf was talking about when he said "some players are playing for the wrong reasons." But the Harden narrative will still fight it. It was obvious to me, but I didn't want to admit it, that Thornton was trying to get his since around late Dec. A player on a one-yr vet minimum chose the Rockets because of presumed success we would have as a way to contribute to a playoff team and maximize his summer value. Instead, the Rockets sucked and he gave up being a team player vs getting his. Several times he was breaking patterns and cutting to the ball in a selfish manner to demand it. It's OK he was a gunner, but he was busting plays in order to get the ball. He gave up on the team and was looking forward to the summer free agency. The early days of the season of him looking like a good teammate were long gone.
So how does this effect the lux tax situation if he's claimed? Does that mean we don't sign anybody else? If we buyout Lawson as well though, then we will have the space to sign two roster replacements, and be under the tax, right?
If he's claimed, the remaining portion of his salary comes off our books. Since he's a vet minimum, someone might actually do that. But it's not anywhere close to getting us under the Lux Tax is it? It would just mean we wouldn't pay a small amount of tax claimed off the waiver wire for a vet min contract.
Knew it. Knew it right when I heard how Daryl responded on the radio when asked about what now with DMo and MT.
Very good shooter to come off the bench. Never understood why he was in the doghouse pretty much the entire season and Brewer gets run.
Welp, incoming possibility of Thornton showing his frustrations by opening his mouth about any particular problems the Rockets might have been having in the locker room. Hope not though.
Uhh, if he opens his mouth about lockerroom drama, that would mean he was involved...and likely the malcontent the whole time....not to say he was, but if he starts a blame game, then that would tip me completely against him. Basically, he's getting fired and then bad mouths his past employer and co-workers and you're going to believe every word out of his mouth. How old are you?
Yes, how could they let a player go who signed late in the offseason for the vet min? He was good on offense but I bet he was a cancer about his inconsistent minutes.
Marcus Thornton is telling anyone who will listen that he is happy to get a chance to go find playing time on a contender. LOL if he gets picked up by the Sixers.
