I have to give McHale some respect amid all the people here piling crap on him for his players quitting. In early 2012 I met coach McHale after a game in LA when i was staying at the Ritz Carlton hotel in Los Angeles, after the Rockets got absolutely smashed by the Clippers. Despite the team being thoroughly outclassed, and McHale being in an absolute dog of a mood, he was more than happy to talk with a Rockets fan from Australia and even take some photos with my wife and I. He was an absolute class act of a man and I am sorry to see him go. He deserved a lot better than what his players served up this season.
While I don't think Mac is the best coach I do think he was very unfairly fired. This team is better than the record indicates. Even if its not by much. The only solace in his firing is that McHale can be replaced. Just 2 more months with JB until hopefully we hire a new and better coach
This season is a mulligan. Got to wait till next year and hope we get a coach who actually can, you know, coach.
He's a good guy, but he still needed to go. Although he is better than JB, he wasn't going to take us to a Championship.
Did you all expect some unknown scrub from McFails cabinet to somehow fix all our problems? Didn't you all understand the season was over when we fired McFail?
So in other words, everyone who liked the firing was ready to tank the whole season after 11 games. Those people were (still are) morons.
I knew the season was over. I'm happy he was canned though, hopefully we get a real coach this offseason.
