It's James Harden and it's not even close. Harden is the leader. This is on him. He is the player primarily responsible for this team's sad performance. He isn't making the players around him better while he stacks up his numbers. And he's totally exposing his teammates in transition defense because he's the one that turns it over and puts them in transition defense and he doesn't get back to help them in transition defense.

You have to watch the games and not just look at stats. Harden has been awful this year. It's on him.

Brewer was projected by many national media as 6th man of the year potential. That's high expectations..

If you answered anything other than Lawson you haven't been paying attention.

He was supposed to be a massive upgrade over Beverley; instead he has been a downgrade from Pablo Prigioni, how is that even possible?

It's not his fault, but I voted DMo because he had the most upside and gave the most hope for the future. This would have been a drastically different team with a healthy DMo with playoff experience and another summer to hone his craft.

I voted for Dmo because I forgot Ty existed. So yeah, it's Ty.

Lawson.... he's completely fallen off the map unlike any player I can remember in league history. Other players can claim injury/age, but Ty has just flat out, sucked.

Harden has disappointed, but he was already a suspect leader before this year.

It's amazing how easy it is to genuinely forget Ty Lawson is on the roster

    Amen.
I don't think this is all on Ty.
We brought him in here as a PG playmaker, but yet our coaches just use
him as a spot-up shooter to placate James as PG. That's not his game.

If we just need a spot-up shooter, let's bring in Jimmer.
That's his single strength. Knocking down 3's.
Wait for James do his ISO dance for 20 sec, then pass to Jimmer for a quick 3. Money

Ty has looked awful in all aspects. Regardless of who he plays with.

He's not just a fish out of water. He's a dead fish in the water.

Lawson if forced to pick player. But JBB has been most disappointing Rocket by far. And JB has more impact on wins and losses than bench player like Lawson.

As bad as Lawson has been (I voted for him) - I think the result of him being on the court is actually neutral. We wait for him to make an impact but he does nothing.

Guys like Brewer or Josh Smith - they kill you from time-to-time with negative play. Lawson, for the most part, doesn't actually cause too many problems when he's out there. His defensive effort has been a surprise (it's still bad, but not as bad as I was anticipating).

For $12M you want something positive, I get that, but he's not sinking the ship when he's out there.

Lawson's season reminds me a lot of Steve Francis' first season with JVG. He was asked to change his game completely resulting in fewer erratic possessions, but also a complete loss of who he was as a player.

If Ty Lawson averaged 16 points and 6 assist game we'd be arguing about whether we'd want the 3 seed or the 4 seed in order to get GSW or SA in the 2nd round.

If you want to compare his impact on the Rockets to Steve Francis - think 2008 Steve Francis.

Actually Lawson will be the most popular answer, but it's Harden.

Lawson was a gamble, while the Rox paid a very reasonable price for the gamble, it is still a gamble.

Without Lawson, this team, the almost exact same team, went to the West final last season. So obviously its stupid to blame the collapse on Lawson alone.

James Harden was the best player and leader in this team and expected to be the same this season and actually expected to be even better.

By this standard, he failed and he failed miserably.

I just read the si article on morey and houston and got depressed. Because I agree with most he is saying.
Perhaps the biggest dissapointment is Morey above all.

Lawson is disappointing because of what you expected from him. Harden's dropoff is nowhere close to Ty's. We are talking the most disappointing not the most hated or the most responsible for losses or who to blame the collapse on. Even the doubters expected at least double figure scoring from Lawson. People argued if he should be starting now we are asking if he should be the 3rd PG. Harden is still the most productive player on the Rockets.

Lawson obviously. But I think it's ALL on coaching staff. They're really bad, we all know it, so why are we surprised that Lawson wasn't integrated properly? He wasn't integrated at all. This dude used to be a balla. When u add a point guard of his caliber you should change something, alot, but it seems like NOTHING was changed in our system with Lawson's acquisition. Popovic added Aldridge and they started to post up a ton more. We add a pointguard to the team, first one ever, yet we change nothing.

This (and Basketballholics post) are closer to my view.

Harden was second in MVP voting last year and the players MVP. This year he probably won't get any votes. He came into camp fat as we all know. Still may be fat. Defense regressed. Can't get to the rim as much

Lawson and tjones suck too but I'm more disappointed in Harden

Although I voted Ty, it's unfair to vote for him or make this a thread. Yeah, ty was a flop, but damn it everyone here was a flop. It's not fair to put more disappointment on one player when it's the entire team that has disappointed.
