Oh nope. You are here because you are a masochist. Sadly for you the road to recovery goes first through self admittance and since you are so much in denial it will take a while if ever for you to recover from your condition.

Notice the O in LOF? What that means? Only. All those people are rockets fans who instead of obssesively watching Lin games all the time wherever he goes, like mercenary fans as you do, they watch every Rockets game.

And post their opinion on Lin, a former Rocket in their Rocket forum in the Dish. The proper place.

Anyone who sides with Tinman should get banned for supporting his racist posting on Lin and his fans. Talking about one's food like wonton soup and snacks like pokey sticks.....what if someone poke fun of African American with Watermelons and Fried Chicken or Irish-American on Cornbeef and cabbage?? Not cool but it's fine Tinman using Asian Food on Lin and Lin fans.

You need to do some more homework Mr. English Teacher!!

Chinese Exclusion Act and other unfair treatment by this Country on Asians since we been in the US starting in the 1700's and earlier. Our numbers were small so the unfair treatment gets sweep under the rug all the time. We don't have an Al Al Sharpton or Dr. King to voice our unfair treatment in this Country. So, we work harder and keep quite because our numbers are small as we get passed over on the true prize of the American Dream.

You put together a well written posting that is crap and have no understanding of someone who is not like yourself. Hypocrite!!

And Rockets fans who had to watch 2 years of Jeremy Lin play for them watched some of the most clueless point guard play in the modern era, topping it off with the Portland Mo Williams play.

It wasn't one play, that was just the confirmation that he was not the point guard we were looking for.

The cherry on top or the condensed milk on top, whatever you call it.

You still have not answered Yoeddys questions about hakeem getting paid to say someone positive about Lin....why are you so insecure to answers a simple question?

How do you know so much about condensed milk on top?

Lin as a rocket point guard has been much more successfully than most others before and after his time here. You are just a LOH and can not see this world correctly...you are very delusional.

Yes, and you should respect Hakeem status by behaving in a manner that is representative of how Hakeem conducts his life. He is an honorable man and deserves fans who live up to that association.

When have I "pretended to be" a Hornets fan? The post I made that you said "so you're a Hornets fan?" said this: "Ask any Hornets fan who the top 3 defenders on the team are, and I guarantee you that 99% of them name Lin among those 3. Given how his offense has dropped this season, it's his defense that is earning his minutes this season."

I never claimed to be a Hornets fan, just provided an observation about what Hornets fans on their fan forums say about Lin. Not sure where you think I claimed to be a Hornets fan...I am following them as a team because Lin plays for them, and yes, I want them to be successful...but I want to see what they do with Lin and the team for the longer term before committing myself to being a real fan of their team. I've never said otherwise, so I'm not sure where you're getting the idea that I'm pretending to be one now.

This thread has over 7900 posts and over 600K views. Pretty darn healthy if you ask me!

Please. Your "read educated fan" is an analyst, not a fan. To me, a real fan has an emotional obsession with the team, and no analysis of the team wants to see the team on the losing end of a game. No real fan roots for their team to lose.

You should be damn happy that the team won. Period.

Rooting for your team to lose. Pretty pathetic.

You should behave more like Hakeem if you are going to claim to be "Hakeem level".

Blocking the enemies of the rockets.

When you say ask any Hornets fan, you seem to have been speaking for them, when you aren't one.

Glad we got it out of the way. You are a mercenary fan.

7900 posts doesn't make it a healthy thread. The fact that you think it's healthy its very alarming. It's like an abused wife when saying "but we are married for 20 years that my husband beats me , so it must be a healthy marriage".

You think a real fan is someone emotionally obsessed who can't use their head to think what's better for a team and the long term future ?

That explains why you think being a LOF is a good idea.
And yes I'm very happy and thrilled. And would be even more thrilled if they had those perfomances and it ended up in a 4rth quarter close loss so the Bucks can also have a top 7 pick and get someone who can be a long term piece of the core and not have to rely on mercenary players like Bayless...or Lin.

Yup, he's not here to talk about the Rockets, he's just here to say Lin was great and divert fault for when a Rockets fan says Lin sucked vs Portland.

At least he's not making up that stupid 60 year Astros fan story

It's not identity theft, it's that they don't have an identity.

At least you are not saying I'm 70 yrs old but 60 is still a bit too old.

Doesn't matter what my identity is or is not, but you are someone who does not represent any true rocket fan who understand not one player is the reason a team win or losses.

Don't blame lin....blame Morey for offering Lin a contract that the knicks could not match. If Lin stayed in NY none of the LOF would have came here and butt hurted you and your tinsane inmates.

Watches a couple of Hornets game and it seems like Lin has reinvented himself as a defensive specialist to stay in the league.
He can not score regularly like Kemba to be a starting PG

Walked in here to take a quick gander, and my damn, this thread has become ugly. Genuinely ugly.

It's obvious where the majority of us stand, both objectively and from a fandom perspective. If we look at Lin's career objectively, he has made a name for himself as an average to dependable backup point guard on multiple teams. He has become proficient running a pick and roll offense when he is able to over-dominate the ball. Jeremy has also progressed on defense and seems to have adapted his "Linsanity" ego to the more appropriate, supportive journeyman. (That hair though...lol ;).)

Past seasons have shown Lin with a sense of in-game "pouting" and a sentiment of entitlement, based on the countless personal and fan-derived injustices that were expressed/implied about his minutes, his role on offense and his opinions about coaching decisions. I mean this with respect, but I think some of Jeremy's most significant growth has been through his new-found maturity on the court. Simply, he is more accepting of his limitations and is satisfied being a supportive teammate, even during times of limited minutes. That takes humility and a team-first approach to the game. Some guys never learn that....Hi, Terrence Williams :)

Obviously, Lin is a great person, donates to amazing causes and is the ultimate hero to a certain fanbase. That's awesome, and I think he's learning to balance basketball and fame in a better manner. Again, I think Jeremy is a respectable individual, but let's be clear: He may be one of the most polarizing former Rockets of all time, in regard to his fans who often CHOOSE to ignore his deficits as an NBA player altogether. That's the negative part of fandom--Objectivity goes out the damn window. Despite those who will continually view Jeremy's stats from a statistically-flawed platform, and despite those fans who will continually claim Jeremy has been held back by coaches, superior players, various offensive systems or a myth of racism, there are MILLIONS of Jeremy Lin fans who fairly recognize his strengths, and they equally acknowledge that, while he was talented enough to make an NBA roster, his skillset is, with genuine respect, inferior to the countless players (mainly guards) with statistics that unequivocally evidence greater talent and potential.

This goes for infinite players, but the reason this thread exists is because of a divide between objectivity and pure, ride or die fandom!

Is Jeremy a talented basketball player? Absolutely. Does Jeremy have some untapped potential that all of his teams have missed? I don't think so. Has Jeremy earned his spot in the league? Yes.

Based on his career statistics and personal "bests," is Jeremy Lin's talent often overrated by the same fans who *choose* to ignore statistics due to their incredible fandom? ABSOLUTELY.

I personally love that the NBA has teams and players for all of us to support. However, when it comes to the point of logically assessing, or debating, a player's talent and impact on his team, I personally prefer statistics, comparisons of guards/4s/5s and their basketball-related output on their teams. Fandom is fun and all, but it more or less ignores talent and competition, which is characteristic of the NBA.

    But, to each his own.

I supported Jeremy Lin when he was a Rocket, even with all of the horrible shot-selection, jumping in the air without knowing to shoot or pass, and I even supported his costly turnovers BECAUSE he was a Rocket. Still, even with my Rockets fandom, I knew then, and we all certainly know now, that Jeremy is just not on the same level of greatness that his fans WANT him to be on. That's not a dig at him. He's an NBA talent, but he's just not Westbrook, CP3, Stockton, Nash, etc. He's just not, and that's okay. It is what it is.

As much as I blame Jeremy Lin for a certain playoff series epic loss :), I do not hate the man, just like a ton of us on Clutchfans don't hate someone we haven't met. Was I relieved when we changed up our backcourt? Most definitely.

The Rockets were better off for it, and Jeremy Lin is better off playing in a comfortable role as Charlotte's back up.

As long as Jeremy Lin plays in the NBA, this topic will never die down. As much as I prefer and respect objective analysis of players and teams (including a 5 page article on Rocket great Ryan Bowen :) ) , I know that each fan is different and some will see what they want to see, even at the expense of objectivity and fair player comparisons.

This is it for me. Ya'll enjoy this Jeremy Lin mega-mega thread.

With the salt finally leaving the wounds of the Portland series, and with Jeremy somewhat thriving with Killa Kem and Nic Batum, the Jeremy Lin chapter has passed for me.

I'm doing it for my health!!! ;)

    Peace.
