Yes, likely one of them would have to be moved for cap room. Brewer would be tougher to move. With Ariza, you could get an asset in return to help replenish the bench.

Rockets would have to renounce Dwight. There is no realistic scenario where Dwight is here if the Rockets got Durant & Horford. You could do Durant and Howard though. But I think the lure of Durant is playing WITH Horford.

Either way, I think you go hard on Horford in free agency.

Bev and Ariza aren't taking this team anywhere, Bev can't even stay on the court.

In my opinion at the start of FA when we will want to dump Brew with everyone having capspace and going after their targets, it will be impossible to dump Brew even with KJ (btw Kj with the lack of playing time , and significant progress in his flaws, dont' think his trade value is that hot).

Ariza on the other hand can fetch back a first. And also I believe his trade value is at the peak now and can only get worse as he gets too old.

btw funny that Morey tried to rip of NY. Bev is one of the few pgs that are fit for the triangle.
One other will hit the market though this summer. Delly.

Morey just needs to be smart and find underappreciated wings that he can take advantage of by cheap long term deals. Like Ainge did with Crowder this summer.

Wouldn't it be possible to sign 2 max contracts or near max then sign Howard to exceed the cap?

No, because going into the offseason to obtain 2 max contract slots the Rockets will have to renounce Dwight Howard's 30M cap hold (along with other players). That frees up the money. And at that point you can't resign Howard to exceed the cap because we would have renounced him.

    So what you have is

1 Max FA slot + Howard
    or
    2 Max FA slots

    That is the choice.
