No, I thought he was average and should have been a backup. Basically Fitz 2.0. I was mad we didn't get someone in the 2nd round of the draft. You thought Mallet was amazing even though he has worse stats than Tebow and Vince Young. Actually, you STILL think Mallet is amazing. You actually thought he would go to Baltimore and be really good. Such high upside! I was 100% correct on how bad Mallet would be. Do you post on the Ravens forum?
It looks like Cook or Prescott will be available when the Texans pick. Either one seems to be much more sensible than RGiii
Well he's probably just excited to have people happy to see him. I'm sure he was met with mixed reactions in DC
Redskins' president on RGIII: 'We wish him well' http://www.nfl.com/news/story/0ap3000000637796/article/redskins-president-on-rgiii-we-wish-him-well
so some teams are interested and if Bruce Allen knows which ones- you can bet RG3 does to Maybe this is the reason hes been in spotted in Houston several times.. do you guys think Obrien is interested? say whatever you want about RG3- but hes is a solid accurate QB when giving time ( and Obrien has always mentioned that an accurate QB is what he likes
There was also an Ed Werder piece on ESPN (TV) the other day that said BO'B has a new-found appreciation for QBs that can run when the play breaks down due to spending more time in defensive film rooms as a HC than he ever did as an offensive assistant. His "prototype" might be evolving.... queue the hand-wringing over passing on Bortles.
I don't see why we couldn't do both if his market value is reasonable. The Texans will have quite a bit of cap space this summer (even more if they cut Hoyer). No idea what RGIII will command but I'd much rather have him at the 8-10M range than Hoyer at 5M. Found this site pretty interesting, 2/3 of NFL teams have currently allocated 10% or more of their 2016 cap space to QBs. More than half of those teams made the playoffs last season. Of the remaining 1/3 who allocated less than 10%, only the Texans and Vikings made it. A lot of holes in this but interesting none the less. http://www.spotrac.com/nfl/positional/quarterback/
maybe a quarterback that doesn't "know" the offense is exactly what we need at the stopgap position in comparison to those chalkboard geniuses that know the system like hoyett. bring griffin over and still get your young qb, prescott or hackenberg. whichever b.o.b likes the most.
Yeah I suppose you could do that. But don't rgiii want a starting guarantee? We may end up with a rookie we want to start. Or maybe Savage wins the job
If that's what he wants and other teams are willing to guarantee that, then he should by all means go for that. Otherwise, I think the Texans would offer a legitimate shot at the starting job and if his competition is a rookie and/or Savage, then it'd be as good a shot at a starting job as he'd get IMO.
Where was it ever stated that RGIII is expecting a starting job? Serious question. I haven't seen it anywhere and would be pretty surprised if he had any inclination that he could even make that sort of demand. I can't imagine any scenario where the Texans would guarantee him the starting job regardless. Your insistence that bringing in RGIII would automatically preclude us from pursuing other QB's seems like nothing but conjecture on your part. Unless he's just a total head case (which is possible) the downside of bringing him in is minimal. All I know is I want as many TALENTED QB's competing for the job as possible.
