Horrible day - we went from getting a 1st round draft pick for Dmo to getting nothing for him. He won't be a Rocket next year. Basically just lost a draft pick.
At least you almost got a first rounder for DMo. You're getting nothing at all for Jones. Somehow no one blames Jones for it.
Dude you need to slow your roll. NO ONE is blaming DMo for anything. The hate is directed to the trade being voided not at DMo. This voided trade IMO hurts DMo in the long run since his market value might of taken a huge hit and won't get as much money this off-season.
what does jones have to do with anything? Was he a part of this deal? Yet you have to bring him in this discussion because you feel like Dmo is being attacked. Try being unbiased for once.
Why are we even discussing Jones? Dmo and Jones are both going to walk. We should have traded both of them. Difference is no one wants Jones because they know he is a scrub.
There are people calling him names. You must not red every post in every thread about DMo lately. I did.
I don't understand why people are saying this. A few days ago we didn't know that DMo's back was apparently so ****ed that the team that reportedly was going to be one of his biggest suitors this summer didn't even want to deal with him. We thought DMo was set to return healthy for the rest of the season, now we all know how ****ed his back is and we lost a first round pick for a dude with a bad back. Of course people don't like the veto.
It's true. He was probably depressed to get traded but doubly depressed (for his future earnings) at having been rejected medically and publicly. I would hate to be his agent this summer.
It would take DMO being totally comfortable with his situation here to stay, and I don't see it. He has to love Houston, has to love playing with Harden, has to forgive management, has to love his role, has to regain trust, and has to get paid. All of that in just a few months. And that doesn't even include what the Rockets will need to see, which if it goes well, just means committing more uncertain money. But it all begs the question, if you put DMO in a box with a flask of poison, and a radioactive element, and close it up, is he still a Rocket or not when you peek in.
Can't blame Morey for trying. Lol he almost pulled off another one of his slick moves. Dude knew Dmo's back was messed up. He also knew Dmo will walk in the offseason because he's not going to pay him a big time contract. Especially if we were to acquire Durant and resign Dwight.
I don't. He's probably the proudest Rocket when it comes to the team, city and fans. He and Bev really love the city since they are both fan favorites. Remember he's volunteered to go to RGV to get reps. This is not a high ego guy; he's a worker and I think loyal.
Can't forget that he's demanded a trade due to playing time before. I'm also not so sure any foreigner has loyalty to an NBA team, but it does seem like he loves Houston.
Damn near ALL our people have called him names of one kind or another. I've been calling the cat Donuts since we got him. Why? Because I had a hard time spelling Montiepythonbitus, or whatever the hell it is. No problem spelling Donatas, but Donuts just seemed to fit. A true 7 footer with skills in the post, moved well without the ball, nice passing ability, knew when and how to set picks, but with holes in his game, several holes and some of those holes he's made significant progress filling up, based on last season. Example? Defense improved a lot and so did his shooting. And he kept improving until he suffered the worst hole in his game. The damned back injury, the "i" word being a constant threat hanging over the Rockets since like forever, and it struck again. Donuts was affectionate "name calling," and yes, there's been plenty of not so affectionate labels and monikers tossed at the Baltic Hero. So what? It comes with the territory. Like others here, I was against the trade when it happened, expecting Jones to be moved, and am very upset that it's been voided, the void something I find a bit strange given the circumstances, but the league approved it. So we move forward. We've lost a likely mid-1st in the draft, a blow, and we have two very unhappy guys coming back, feeling dished and unwanted. Who can blame them? Short of going on a tear and managing 8-2 or 9-1 over the next 10 games, putting ourselves back in the mix, while playing like we actually know what the hell we're doing, the Rocks finally finding some of the juice that was flowing last season, something better than an 0-4 1st round exit? Absent that, we're screwed going into the off-season. Yet another slam the chumps in the media can use to denigrate Houston, fair or not. Oh, and the post above this one is a crock. Beware the Ides of March.
