LOL - I have said Les is cheap a ton, there is nothing passive about it, I am honestly asking who do you guys think will get bought out to get them under the line. My only agenda is what I believe is good for the Rockets - Mark Cuban would be a better owner. DD
If you're honestly asking just that then why dropped the laced punches about les. Listen I'm not saying I disagree about les. Just you make it hard to have a discussion about JUST a buy out when you throw obvious sucker punches about Les. That's what makes you come off as petulant and childish. And since you brought it up, why not just make a thread about how Cuban is a better owner. Quit beating around the bush and just say what you want to say and keep it one thread.
Let's all just remember to NEVER take business advice from DD. The Rockets are cutting costs for an underperforming business - can we fault them? This isn't the 2012 Thunder. This is a average/below average team that may not even make the Playoffs. Come on DD, stop pushing your idiotic, baseless agenda. It's truly nauseating.
if we waive someone and another team picks them up don't they have to pay their full salary? It will save money from the tax right?
Yeah, but most teams will wait for them to clear waivers first - then pick them up cheaply, and only the money they are paying (Usually vet minimum) will be taken off their cap hit. At least as I understand it, Bima or Clutch or Gater would know better. DD
And don't forget about the "repeat offender penalty" ... being over the lux line this year means Les would be much less likely to exceed it next year ..... because the penalty is basically double for being over multiple times consecutively or within a specific number of years (I forget the exact wording / duration). Aint no reason to stay over the cap while they are sucking.
Contracts are torn up ALL THE TIME. This is the real world, hp. I have lived it. Le$ could get out of Brewer's deal - just too much of a penny pincher. This is NOT the way to win a chip. DD
This. DD, you care less about who the team might cut *if* Les asks DM to get us under the cap, and more about how many different ways you can tell people you think Les is cheap. WE GET IT ALREADY: YOU THINK LES IS CHEAP. Empirical evidence says otherwise, but that's never stopped you before. Your neverending thread-crapping seems like you're determined to keep going, posting your "brilliant take of the day" and arguing with anyone who doesn't fall in line, until the majority of CF agrees with you. Despite your best efforts, sheer post-count won't convince everyone you're right.
Just waive TJones and Thornton, someone will claim both of them, and then they don't count against the Rockets' cap.
Tell you what, why don't you propose a specific and realistic scenario including buyouts that gets us under the tax.
I agree to some of what you're saying, but teams should look more than yr to yr. Say D-Mo healthy and producing, do you still make that trade? Rockets, moreso Morey, doesnt want to develop and pay guys. He wants guys already developed and on a set contract. How many teams think like that who are successful? Thornton, aka lil buckets is who he is, a basket getter. He's a quality scorer on a team that doesn't have many. Anyone that has watched him know what you're getting.
