So close to getting a mid first rounder for a guy who has played 14 games in almost the past year.

We traded him, Detroit examined him medically and didn't want him. That isn't speculation, those are facts. You thinking he was completely healthy and that the Rockets were faking his setbacks to trade Jones was speculation and has proven to be false. But conspiracy theorists gonna conspiracy theorize.

I think he is healthy enough yes, but they are worried that it might be a lingering situation and wanted their pick back.

Same thing as Elliot, we were afraid of his kidney condition but he played many more years with that.....and won a ring as a starter.

So, I am hopefully that DMo has a similar situation.

Just a thought. The repeater tax is designed to be putative and painful. It is designed to make NBA team owners back away from salary.

Rather than use this lost season to avoid it, they will need to cut salary in a future season to deflect the punitive measures. Anybody who thinks they are going to and should just be expected to sneer at the repeater tax is an idiot lacking the imagination to put themselves in Les' shoes.

This ever so slightly handcuffs them salary-wise for future seasons, when that potential burden could have partially been offloaded in this season where they are going nowhere.

That is, in addition to all the other potential downsides to this outcome.

You don't box-out, rebound or fend-off post-up defenders with your kidney.... This is a much worse situation both short-term and long-term.

(and this is before realizing that Sean Elliot was a much better NBA player than DMo was at the time of the trade).

So Dmo will not play or be completely inneffective for the next 30 games. We will let him walk in the offseason, and receive no compensation. Terrific, just terrific.

Let's see how it holds up - he seems to think it is ok and is ready to go.

At this point, I don't know if it's worth playing him this season. If he is healthy and plays well, yes that would be good for us and could get us into the playoffs. But the problem with that is that we probably wouldn't go far in the playoffs (i.e., even sniff the 2nd round); meanwhile DMo would be getting offer sheets that we may not want to match. Coupled with the fact that we would have to send our 1st round pick to Denver.

think this just goes to show how fans have no idea what goes on behind the scenes and how futile it is to make such strong opinions on one way or the other.

Not happy with the end result, or output of the organization, critiquing that is fair. going ape on one move or another without having access to context seems like a waste of time.

Did you finally learn that DMo is not actually healthy, and hasn't been "healthy for weeks?"... because you certainly seemed so damn sure of that *fact* just 48 hours ago.

Or he comes in plays proves he is healthy and helps the team go on a run.

but then you go on and say he will take his qo?
If he doesn't help much this year why would he?

Dunno if he will, I am hoping for a best case scenario - he gets healthy, adds that missing dimension, and the team gets him for a discount long term.

Well, that's the big problem with backs, and why its such a chronic/lingering condition that is hard to fully be cured from.

He may feel great now... but all it could take is one game of 30+ minutes with heavy pounding for him to feel awful again. I saw what happened to Larry Bird at the end of his career first-hand... some days great, some days he couldn't walk.

There is no surgical or medical cure for a bad back. There are methods to curtail or limit the extent of disability, but his relapse/reinjury risk is significant no matter how he feels.

So when you don't pass a physical, does all the team involved get to see the dr reports? You know, to make sure it's legit.

Or he could get healthy and play for years like TMac did, or Reddick is doing now, or many other guys that had that surgery...Hell DWIGHT HOWARD was paid the max by us and he had a much worse surgery.
