I don't think at this point we can say if this was great news or terrible news or anything in between. Sure the Rockets lost the first round pick, but Detroit voiding the trade would make DMo super cheap to keep in the offseason. If they were wrong about his long term health, this could work out very well for the Rockets....of course Detroit could be right and all that happens is we lose a pick for players that never contribute again and that would suck. We'll just have to see how it plays out.
They need to completely redo that PF position for next season. I think they let both DMO and Jones walk if you ask me.
Please do tell how you come to this conclusion from knowing the future? Pistons have the #13 pick right now the last 5 #13 picks are Devin Booker Zach LaVine Kelly Olynyk Kendall Marshall Markieff Morris outside of Marshall all of those players were pretty productive in their first few years in the league (booker pretty impressive in his rookie year) Rockets (well at least I thought) do not need a star at #13 (of course wouldnt hurt) but a productive cheap player would be perfect -- they would have gotten that with the 13th pick. I do hope DMo to come back 100% of course but I dont know if something like that will happen. This whole transaction just sucks for the Rockets - they have one upset player in MT, a player whose health is now openly questioned in DMo, no first round pick and will have to pay luxury tax (granted the luxury part doesnt effect me BUT it effects the team because while everyone screams Les doesnt pay Luxury tax -- what Les does do is buy picks in the draft. If Les is going to have to pay I would rather have him buy picks than pay the luxury tax)
Yup. Jones, Motiejunas and others all have failed to nail down the spot. It is a position of weakness and both are no longer going to be on rookie pay scales. They are gone. This idea that the Rockets can now sign him cheap is short sighted. The Rockets are not going to want him to start for them at PF, so they are not going to offer him much money, and Motiejunas is going to want money and and an opportunity to play big minutes. It is a bad fit, that isn't going to work.
Neither of those players were contributors to a contender right away. Also, 2016 draft is going to be very cheap on talent outside top 5, according to scouts.
I feel fans are mostly frustrated at the situation for what trading DMo represents. It's a mid to low first rounder in a weak draft anyway... The big loss will be the $10M Les is set to lose if Morey can't negotiate a buyout/s to get them under the tax. So it's possible DMo & Thornton could still be gone now.

I think there is a chance they go forward with DMo and Harrell if DMo is sufficiently cheap like QO type cheap. Jones is complete garbage so they'll walk away from him but I think there's a chance DMo stays for one more year if he plays well the rest of the season and his back is fine.
yes but the bad thing is that there are rumours that the next CBA will reconstruct teh rookie scale contracts and make them much more expensive and 2016 may be the last year they are that cheap.
Sorry, Pistons medical staff has said the outlook for DMo walking away this summer is not very rosy, looks like we will be stuck with him until somebody invents one of those Professor Xavier hover chair deals.
Freakin awesome!! DM does remind me of poor ole Louie... but he'll team with Valentine and get his vengeance. Repped!!
I am just happy to have a full 15 man roster. I wasn't a big fan of not being able to sign anyone for the rest of the season and running with 13
Maybe DMo signs the QO to prove that his back is healthy next year. Let's see if this turns out to be bad like some of you are saying.....sure didn't turn out that way when we lost Pau and Nene, did it? DD

Well let's just say I disagree. Both Harrell and DMo still have potential to be solid starters. Certainly much better than what's left of Smith or Jones. Also, if the pipe dream of Durant happens, no one will care.
