As an observer, I really hope that someone's meltdown can come remotely close to jopat/bbholic's epic Romney disintegration. It was memorable, "many songs will be sung to the gods in Valhalla" kind of epic. I expect mojoman to compete this year.
At least he technically stuck to his word and never attempted to post here again as jopat. Upstairs in the GARM would sorely miss his presence if he was truly ever gone.
LOL. Those were not the terms of his own bet. Jopatmc/basketballhollic was absolutely and utterly humiliated and demolished and afterwards proven to be a liar and a man with low character as well. He sneaked back in as basketballhollic and did not even honor my offer to donate $20 to charity so that he could come back with a bit of dignity. Sneak in on a different moniker after going on accusing about how the other guy would do it if he lost.... ....jeeeesus.
If he's elected, he has to govern. It would be interesting. I feel he's more responsible and smart enough to know his limits than these twitter and news snippets indicate. If not, indeed, we all be scratching our heading and laughing... and love the check and balance system we have in place.
This. Trump is actually somebody that might be able to work with both dems and republicans. I expect him to be the republican nominee and shift a bit to the center in the general election against the Hillary, the likely dems nominee. It is not a given that Hillary will beat Trump.
I am ashamed how Popular Wilders is in my country. But It coul Always be worse. Thanks for making me see the dutch political climate in perspective.
Hillary will crush Trump. And this is coming from someone who hates Hillary with every bone in his body.
Trump leading in polls in 10 of the next 14 states. http://nypost.com/2016/02/22/donald-trump-leads-polls-in-10-of-next-14-voting-states/
Good to be optimisticwhen you're had by the balls. I wonder which promise he'd keep with the lunies though.
I don't think Trump will be quite as crazy as he comes off. I have a hard time thinking that even he believes that a wall can be built along the whole Southern Border and Mexico will pay for it. That still doesn't mean that I would consider supporting him and I think a Trump presidency will be very bad for this country. Trump's candidacy is very much a cult of personality that is based upon low information voters, demagoguery and scapegoating. While Trump's policies might not be as extreme I don't see why he wouldn't govern that way. His whole management style is essentially based upon his own bombastic personality. I don't see any indication that he would change. Basically what I see with Trump presidency is something that will resemble Putin's presidency. One that emphasizes the virility of president and close identification of that individual with loyalty to the government. Even reasonable criticism of the individual will be categorized as treasonous and given that Trump has already said he would sacrifice liberties for security far more than even the GW Bush Admin. did I wouldn't put it beyond him to use the state security to punish personal critics.
Some people aren't voting for Trump because they think he will fix things. They are voting for him because they want to "blow up" the establishment.
I worry we all assume this. Some pretty scary historical elections involved the same thinking. "They'll never actually do any of this zany stuff, once they really have to govern the country. Nobody would let them."
I share your sentiments about Hillary but think she would have a hard time crushing anybody, maybe even Trump.
Yep, given her enthusiasm gap, anything she wins will be an electoral nail biter. No matter what happens, we could be headed to a record low voter turnout in 2016, which means weird things could happen. I'm sure certain extremists, from either side, are happy about this.
Chilly, I hear you, but look at the normal primary rates, LOL. It's just not saying much b/c very low bar. Part of the turnout in the GOP primary is driven by having so many choices. Even I, a left-leaner, am tempted to vote in the Cali GOP primary b/c I like a couple of candidates a lot more than the others. Check it: http://www.electproject.org/2012p Yikes.
That's a good point, it's also been a very contentious race this time around. The voter mood seems to be angry so it will be interesting to see how that translates as things go forward.
