Yes. The show might as well be called Torture.

Well, 24 does torture more American citizens than it does terrorists...I think. In Season 2 at least, the director of the NSA gets tortured with paddles to the brain, a precious blonde bride has her bullet wound painfully pinched, and Jack literally gets tortured to death

But that torture must be avenged with more torture. Jack Bauer is impervious to torture and could never be tortured to death.

24 is wish fulfillment for Americans in the post-9/11 era. It started as an innocent action show and devolved into this political farce.

Not sure if you're following my examples. Avenged would mean more US on US torture.

The above three torture examples of US citizens I gave from Season 2 are conducted by (in order): The President, Jack and US Oil Industry Mercenaries. :)

And there is much more US on US torture.

Is torture justified in the world of Jack Bauer?

I refuse to divulge that information, even if you torture me.

Why read so much into it man? Honestly, I'm not sure there's any show on TV you couldn't politicize if you really wanted to. You're just losing a ton of entertainment value for doing that. Cheer up.

Is Homeland Ideological Left Wing drivel to replace 24, since it was produced during Obama. Or was that Newsroom?

I understand the show has politics and is about the government trying to stop terrorists, but please, try to watch the show without your bull**** political thoughts.

The show isn't "driven" any way. It's a ****ing show. Get over it. If you don't like it, don't ruin it for someone else who may not have seen it by bringing your reality political bull**** in here.

Get your garbage ass outta here.

I love the show though I'll admit tobeing annoyed when politicians used the Jack Bauer scenario when they were justifying the Bush era.

Its sad when people over politicize shows like this. Just because politics is one of the underlying themes of the show doesn't mean it should be take that deeply.

Its a show at the end of the day, one which I enjoy very much!

Haha. I'm not going to argue with you about whether or not 24 is an overtly political show. The show is garbage but I have no interest in convincing people they shouldn't like the show.

There's a reason Scalia is reported to have been a 24 fan. You can enjoy the show as a simplistic action hero fantasy and deny that terrorism and torture are its main themes. Cool.

In response to heyp, who I respect, Homeland can occasionally be very ideological. Not because it was produced during the Obama era. The co-creator of 24 is extremely right wing.

I have a solution for you: don't watch the show. No one is forcing you to watch it. If anything, I think it's a good thing that 24 brought up torture as a moral and political issue in a time when it was (and is still) relevant.

And he didn't like it very much because the politics took him out of it and he couldn't enjoy it.

I'm guessing he isn't doing regular binge watch sessions of each season.

One thing that is neat about rewatching 24 is to see the actors who had bit parts. I'm up to the beginning of Season 3 and so far:

Season 2 has Rami Malek from Mr Robot
Season 3 has Zachary Quinto -- Spock from the new Star Trek
