What's the other side of the story? What crime did he commit? How was he behaved in prison prior to getting tossed in solitary?

He was a career criminal, convicted of armed robbery in '71. At his sentencing hearing (potential 50-year sentence), he escaped from the courthouse and fled to New York, joined the Black Panthers, and was re-arrested within a year. Sent to Angola prison in Louisiana, which was apparently a horrible, horrible place at that time (he had served time there before). He was thrown in solitary along with 2 other guys, the "Angola Three", after a guard was murdered. It's quite likely he was not involved in the murder (very sketchy or non-existent evidence).

This guy was a career criminal, a flight risk and could have been involved in murdering a prison guard. ...and he still has his life so your comment was incredibly stupid. The prison guard, sadly, does not still have his life.

Right, as long as he is still breathing, void of almost all social contact that is necessary for true human life to function the way it needs to, all because there is shady evidence that may or may not link him to a prison guard's murder, then your pro-life stance is still in good light. Sorry to say, but your rebuttal was incredibly stupid.

He's probably not a danger to society anymore so I don't really care that he got out, but the guy was a violent racist criminal so I see him being off the streets for 43 years as a good thing.

That's simply not the point of discussion though... we're talking about leaving a human being in solitary confinement for 43 years. That is by definition, inhumane.

He was twice convicted of the guard's murder. And he was an escape risk.

    No feels.

I thing the punishment fit the criminal. I think that it probably really sucked, but that's what violent, racist criminals deserve. I think keeping them locked up in that fashion is the most humane thing to do so that you don't put the rest of the prison population in danger. People like that honestly don't deserve any better.

This is some real injustice. Mumia Abu-Jamal rots away in prison, while this fellow gets to go home and eat Mcdonalds. I attended a #freemumia rally prior to the advent of Twitter.

The only injustice when it comes to Mumia Abu-Jamal was that they had him on death row for 30 years and didn't carry out the sentence.

the prison guard widow doest believe Albert Woodfox was guilty?

there is no indication or whatever he committed a crime before that involve killing someone !

he was accused of organizing a hunger strike to protest prison condition .very weak accusation and contradicting eye witness testimony, and poorly handled DNA evidence.
    ---------------------------------

he got his deadly infection most likely from contaminated shaving blade/needle or blood transfusion, so he was put on a slow death sentences on the top of his solitary prison confinement , how can this make anyone feel better?

Repeated convections does not prove a thing ,if the evidence and testimonial unreliable ..

If you read his trail you would find ..

"....Take the government’s star witness, Hezekiah Brown, who testified in the first trial, in 1973, but had died by the second, in 1998. The state has admitted that it would not have had a case without Brown, another Angola inmate. When investigators first questioned him, he claimed he was not in the vicinity of the murder. But he later changed his story and implicated Woodfox. After the first trial, it came out that prison authorities had threatened Brown with solitary confinement if he did not testify, promised to support a pardon request if he did, and transferred him to a minimum-security area after he appeared in court. Because Brown is dead, he can’t be confronted with these critical facts...."

Still the guy was initially sentenced to 50 years in prison for aggravated robbery and served only 43 years. Even if for whatever reason you don't think he was involved in the murder of the prison guard that's okay, he never served his full sentence for the original reason he was in prison to begin with.
