The thing I like about both KJ and Dekker is they actually move off the ball.

His handles are shaky and his shot is bad. I'd still take him over Brewer.

I actually don't think his form is that bad. He drills threes in his sleep during warm up. Just needs to back himself, take good shots and have confidence. No reason he can't shoot 34% from three.

Brewer will never be as explosive as KJ, ever, even in his dreams. So I agree with your statement. KJ >>>>>>>>>> Brewer.

One of the more impressive aspects of his game is rim protection. You don't typically get that from his position. I was watching some d-league games and he challenges well with verticality and can get some unsuspecting blocks from the weak side.

Will he see minutes now that Thornton is gone?

Probably not unless the game gets out of hand.

Which is what the Rockets need to do more of. Standing at the 3 point line waiting for the ball just stagnates the offense and makes it easier for the opposing team to play defense.

I like when he attacks the rim, and drives to pass.

He is NOT a scorer. Defend, attack the rim and make simple plays. He doesn't need to score to be an incredibly effective player.

Exactly this is the biggest problem with this team on offense. Everyone just stands around. We need quick athletic cutters who can finish. KJ is just what the doctor ordered, especially if he can get his 3pt % up so that teams actually have to respect it and close out. All the young guns who don't get minutes move off the ball and cut: KJ, Harrell, and Dekker.

he would be a projected poor. Kwahi or Barnes if he played for the Spurs or GS

but he is just a bench-warmer on lesser teams

Kj would be solid on another team. I don't think he has a future here. While he is athletic and has the capability of playing above average defense he can't hit the three which is something we need him to do badly. Like he needs to be at least %33.5 from beyond. He's probably just as good as brewer if not better, but I think the reason (or excuse) JB plays Brew over Kj is experience.

I would love for KJ to get more minutes, but that's not happening. Kj is a team player and he isn't selfish. He does get ahead of himself sometimes though trying to make "the" play on offense.

It's funny. Brewer's biggest strength is transition offense. KJs biggest strength is transition defense. Which one do you guys think we need more of? I think we all know we would benefit more with TD, but Brew is being paid too much to let him rot on the bench and let his value free fall even more.

BTW remember when people wanted Nick Johnson over KJ or felt like they both would contribute the same? Such a crazy world.

I am not seeing it. Granted an occasional chase down block. Obviously at this point an exceptionally poor shooter, but more worrying he doesn't seem to be that good at keeping his man in front of him on defense.

Can anyone show some examples of this?
