I think there is no turning point for Bush and Kasich because both are already dead candidates. Single digits are near certain. Rubio will benefit from their demise going forward. I'll eat a plate full of crow if either gets 15%.
Cruz is getting tarnished by his lies, Trump is Trump, and Rubio seems the most capable from a "I'm safe" stand point. Hilary is going to get destroyed in debates. Sanders is playing too nice right now. The GOP is battle tested and will come out swinging.
It's an open primary, Trump should do well since he can get Democrats to come out and vote for him. He's getting almost all of the "insurgent vote"
Trump is the candidate at a turning point. If he wins today by 10%+, uh oh. When polls showed Trump ahead 15% or more in SC, I was ready to accept he was the guy. But then he dumped on W about Iraq at the worst possible moment. So, yes, my mind can be changed on Trump's chances. tmacfor35, you and I think alike here.
Bobby mentions an important thing(open election). Trumps going to win that with his moderate standing. Once that GOP vote comes together! It's over. His unfavoribility mark is so high. I can see the like ability in Trump personally. I just can't see him doing well in a one on one debate with Rubio. He is such a good speaker and gets much more detailed in issues. Trumps vague answers are going to be much more out in the open moving forward.
The only Democrats voting for Trump, or Cruz for that matter, are those who want to insure that either of these two become the GOP nominee.
Yes, of course. That said, Trump does really well with left leaning Republicans so between left leaning Republicans and insurgent Democrats Trump is going to do well in open primary states when the real vote is splintered between several candidates. Trump wouldn't win a one on one race against Rubio, Cruz, or even Bush. That's why if the Republican party wants to ensure Trump isn't the candidate, they need all but one guy to drop out as soon as possible.
I may strongly philosophically disagree with candidates like Cruz and Rubio, but at least I could find a way to accept them- I think. I cannot think of any scenario in which I would not be mortified with embarrassment at the possibility of President Trump. You can think that Cruz or Rubio or Kasich or Carson would be better than Clinton or Sanders or even Obama- fair enough. But anyone who thinks Trump would be a better person to represent our country as President has got to have ****ing rocks in their head- and I'm sticking with that opinion. Sorry, he's a complete ass and the Republicans should be mortified at the possibility of him being the face of their party.
There's not a candidate that I would pick Trump over even if you expanded both the Republican field back to 16 or whatever it was and you expand the Democrat field back to 4. I honestly can't understand how anyone could think that Trump as president would be a good thing. I'd vote for Obama to become emperor for life before I'd vote for Trump for president.
Can you seriously explain, with the data that speaks to you, this sentiment? Not sure what you mean by enabler, but what do you mean by disaster? For me, the disasters are our: media, politics, and the collapse of economic mobility. (So in my mind, Trump kind of represents all three disasters come together in one walking, talking anus.) Otherwise, I'll still rather be in this economy, with the freedoms I do still have, with our unique mix of peoples, than anywhere else in the world. I think a lot of trends are positive as well, even while some others are disturbing.
