Everyone has mehhed the Mavericks moves since the offseason but its gotten them to the 6th seed. Cubes > Les and Morey
Laugh it up, homegirl. Then go hit the club with Bernie and James. The old, B&J. There are people out there, namely me, who can get away with this bevause the women they surround themselves with are good looking and classy. Generations of babeness at work. But when you're grinding on reality tv hos and hoochies, it tell us all we need to know about your ability to deliver. Take a look around the league. The GS transformation when they went from old scool M Jackson, to Steve Kerr and Luke Walton. Earth shattering. The Spurs have a history of execution behind Pop and RC Buford. Because they won't put up with bull**** and laugh at the clowns who celebrate swag culture. The next best coaching staff in the league? It's led by a guy called Brad Stevens. Most of you haven't even heard of him. To the educated, Im only stating the obvious. With an extremely talented guy like james, you can't surround him with the meek pushovers, mentally, that morey has. You need solid characters. Not cheerleaders. David Lee is a guy who boxes out every play, puts in the work, and delivers at the highest level. He came out of obscurity to single handedly win GS a playoff game by just playing his natural game. Ariza is another guy who delivers within his niche. Jones is garbage, and possibly r****ded. Putting guys like him, brewer and Howard around harden is asking for trouble. The time has long past to forget about what happened during a fluke of a season, and build a framework to get something out of James. Praying for KD ain't the answer when it's an issue of personalities. You need discipline and players / a coach worthy of respect. None of which show up on a spreadsheet, escaping nerds like Morey.
Mark Cuban's celebrity status convinces these guys to move to this middle America destination, but when they get there, they end up realizing that it's just a bunch of suburbs connected by tumbleweeds. See Lamar Odom and his decline to almost suicide.

I'm surprised nobody directly stated this; not Cuban, damn sure not the city of Dallas, but it's because he wants to play for a very well-respected coach in Rick Carlisle, easily a Top 5 (Top 3 IMO) of active coaches in the league.
By one game. And they are old and frequently injured. Why does everybody suddenly praise the Mavs like they were a top team? Because they will sign washed-up David Lee, who didn't get **** done in Boston, although they have had difficulties at the big positions for quite some time? Breaking news: He won't make this team any better, just like Amar'e didnt. They might as well fall out of the playoff spots pretty soon. Same with Carlisle. He can't develop players for ****, that's why the allmighty Mavs didn't make it out of the first round since 2011 and won't in the near future either.
So you pick one of the few veterans to go to Dallas and be a bust as you ignore all those who revitalized their career in dallas like zaza, dwill, barea, jason kidd, jason terry, tyson chandler, d.blair, stevenson, vince carter, Charlie v., and the list goes on and on...so just looking at Carlisle past vets seem to thrive in dallas especially when past their prime.
Called it. Averaging 13.5 and 11.5 in 2 games (23 mpg) on a team giving him opportunity. A better PF than any on the Rockets. It's a shame all Mobey can do to evaluate a player is look at his +/-.
Nice post. I think a lot of it has to do with Rick Carlisle, who is my favorite coach in the league. He's easily the most underrated mind in the NBA. If you put him in any situation, he's going to maximize talent. Allegedly, the Rockets were looking at David Lee but there were a lot of factors in making that work. DLee was being looked at by nearly everyone for his contract, but by a few for what he's still able to do on the court. Personally, I think he's a victim of a contract that fans didn't like. They thought he was overpaid. That's fine, but it doesn't take away from what he did during his time in NY and GS. The guy can flat out score and play the game. I remember watching him in NY and being shocked when they let him go. He was developing into a monster...and then things got murky. He's still relatively young and Dallas is a good spot for him to start over. With the way the cap is going to be, he'll get a nice contract as long as he isn't injured while we take the Mav's playoff spot.
Did you watch DLee in Boston? He wasn't exactly part of their future plans... Also, while the Mavs aren't on the same level as GS or the Spurs, they have done a decent job in staying competitive without major, major moves. Say what you want about their age, but Rick Carlisle has them playing hard. When healthy, the Wes Matthews/Chandler/Dirk combo is pretty good together. DWill is quietly having a good season and working on returning to form. And, I cannot stand him, but Rick has freakin' ZaZa playing better than ever. I could never be a Mavs fan. Ever. However, as a coach, I respect strong coaching/leadership and I enjoy watching how Carlisle approaches competition. He's one of the more analytical coaches we have in the league, and even as a Rockets fan, I can appreciate how he manages success with a mix of older and younger players, through focusing on mismatches and utilizing a fairly complex offense. I think his style of coaching will give Dirk a longer career because he won't play him into the ground, and he's already finding different spots of focus for Dirk to use to open things up for the young guns around him.
David Lee on the bench and in the locker room could have provided a bit more veteran leadership. At this point the Rockets could use a lot more added veterans because clearly this team is not being properly lead by Howard or Harden. Howard definitely says the politically correct things and even fired his agent ( who's known for his "tactics") to perhaps show the Rockets that he might buy into taking a slightly lesser contract in order to win it all. Harden.. well is still the James Harden we know from last year except he hasn't shown that he wants to consistently compete on the defensive side night in and night out. It's not solely his fault that he's our 1st/2nd offensive option right now. We've run circles around the topic that this team needs a clear 2nd and 3rd option. I seriously doubted David Lee's addition to the Rockets squad would get this current team right on track but barring a significant turn of events I don't see this team competing for another deep play off run.
