Sorry. This site needs a button to edit posts.

    Morey could have drafted:

    Instead, he drafted:

Guess he confused bigger wang with bigger basketball upside.

Parsons is a good player who's no longer here. Jones sucks. D-Mo is gone. Brooks is gone. The jury's still out on Capela. Patterson is gone.

BTW, notice a pattern with Morey? He seems to love soft 4's who are close to 7 feet tall and can't rebound or defend well and love to camp out at the 3-point line.

I'm frankly sick of his act. He's wasted a lot of draft picks. He's obsessed with stats instead of fundamentals. He places no value in coaching. And he's always chasing free agents instead of focusing on building from within.

And before anyone tells me that the latter strategy netted us Dwight, let's not forget that 2 1/2 years later, Morey was banging away on the phones desperately trying to trade the guy.

It's time, Les. Fire Morey and come with a new approach to building this team. Cuz being mired in mediocrity for the majority of the past 2 decades ain't cutting it.

I like how all the knuckleheads keep talking 1 specific player that Morey didn't select like DeAndre Jordan to prove that Morey sucks at drafting.

Using that logic every GM in the league that year sucked.

Me too. I had read up on Kawhi on Draft Express and could tell he would be a star. When he fell beyond there mock draft spot, I was so excited.

    Then Marcus Morris happened.

I'm not one to monday QB, but the comment that "13 other teams passed on Kawhi" doesn't really mean that much. Morey was the GM who passed on him *right before he was picked.*

You are saying Kawhi is the best player from the draft, so everyone passed on him. We are saying that at #14, Kawhi was on *everyone's* draft board, and we knew that, and yet still passed on him.

Probably no team passes on Kawhi at #14 except for Morey.

One player. Try 2. And almost every decent basketball mind felt the Rockets should have drafted Kawhi when they drafted Marcus Morris. Say what you will, but that was an asinine pick.

But hey, the burden of proof isn't on us. It's on you to show what Morey did that was so fantastic today and what you see beneficial for the Rockets today or in the future.

Give me one upper level player Morey has drafted. A lot of bench guys (and one who thinks he's a star in Parsons) but no real impact players. I'll wait for your google work.

Yup. And what did we end up doing?

We got a ****ing 2nd round pick.

All the shortsighted posters look at what we got and forget we end up losing more in the long run.

The we use that 2nd round pick to dumb somebody, and people forget that was an entire season of trying to make the playoffs all in that pick.

What about White? Oh yea thats right, we had to unload another pick to get rid of his ass.

Patterson? Yea I think we gave him up for a 2nd rounder as well (not 100% sure though).

That is 3 straight ****ing 14th picks. You could pretty much say that two (maybe 3) were used to unload players.

In essence, the rockets pretty much gave away 3 straight 14th picks away for nothing but salary dumping within 2 seasons.

That is absolutely disgusting and ridiculous.

But I thought we had a "genius" GM?

What's use of stockpiling picks if you're gonna draft the wrong guy

I'm tired of the whole 14 other GM's missed out on Kawhi. That's the whole point. He hasn't really separated himself from the top tier GM's by drafting well in the 1st round. Saying 14 other GM's missed out just goes to show that Morey is amongst that mediocre pool in 1st round drafting and not a top end GM like the kool aiders here have it

Other GMs tend to not stick around for 8 years if they don't show they know what they're doing. Morey's had some bad luck with injuries, no doubt about that. But bottom line is in his entire time here(which is approaching a decade), we've won a total of 3 playoff series. That's not very good.

Other GM's also tend not to build a cache of assets over years in order to pull off a heist and steal a freaking superstar in the making.

But you know, let's ignore that

He's not terrible at drafting, but is he anything special at drafting though?

That was was all Les, he knew he'd have to pay Leonard one day. Morris was a cost saving pick.

    He's NOT a good drafter.
Denver and Jazz good drafters. Bulls USED to be(before they threw away their scout head) good drafters. Milwaukee good drafter. GSW good drafter. Portland good drafter. SAS good drafter.

Morey? Bad drafter never hit a star or even an allstar.

Don't feel bad there are worse drafters too. Like Charlotte and Kings.

Jazz got a franchise cornerstone with the 27th pick. Denver got like 2 with late picks.

    Morey is bottom 5.
