This trade is all about 2016-2017. Gives us more flexibility getting a 1st rounder back for sign-and-trades. This + Lawson's unguaranteed contract is a very nice package for a draft day trade.

Top-8 protected is pretty good. If the Rockets don't make the playoffs, they would keep their pick and have 2 picks in the 8-14 range...Possibly could trade those and move into the top 5!

Getting a possible top 14 pick for a FA after the year is not selling low.

I love D-mo, and hate that we never really got to see him, but Morey didn't simply give him away.

Might as well tank. They can retain their 2016 1st round pick from Denver and potentially have two picks between 10-20. And then also keep their 2nd round pick for 2016 as well.

Codman always told us that Dmo injury is serius and maybe he isnt play again this season.
giving him a long term contract is a huge risk

maybe a 1st isnt so bad

Well 2.5 hours left till the trade deadline and all that has happened is that Morey has traded away 2 of our best 3 point shooters and our only starting caliber PF for a bag of dicks.

Maybe Morey being on the hot seat isn't such a bad thing?

Maybe the Rockets did this deal for that pick to use in another deal.

Dmo traded before Jones, let that sink in lmao.

I think Jones is traded too. I've been an advocate for trading both so i'm happy.

They need to tank, but they need to go all in. Trade Dwight. Trade Ariza. Trade Lawson. Trade Jones. Start stockpiling assets.

i have mixed feelings. On one hand, i think DMo was starting to show how special he could be before the back injury. On the other hand, we've been waiting for DMo to come into his own for years now, and I'm not a doctor so i don't know how bad the back really is. Add to that that we have to make a very difficult decision to commit to him or lose him for nothing with his impending free agency.

I wish we had sold high if we were going to sell. I certainly think a top 8 protected first rounder is decent return. But i wish we had been able to make it work with Dmo and if he starts dominating in Detroit, Morey will have a lot to answer for.

Rockets will probably resign him in the off-season

non-guaranteed contract for 2016 (cap space) and a first round pick which will probably be used in a pending trade.

Have to see the rest of the pieces fall before judging the trade on face-value.

It pains me, but it makes since.

    Dmo was the 23rd pick.

Even if the Pistons make the playoffs, the pick will probably be in the around 10-18. Then we go tank to get our 1st back, now we have two picks in the mid-1st round.

Swing that for a top 8 pick or for a disgruntled star on draft night.
