Sources: Houston has started contacting teams about trading Dwight Howard

Agreed with Reeko. Amick is legit and no troll. I believe him when he says other teams aren't especially interested in Dwight.

 

not saying he's not a good reporter, but I've followed him off and on for a few years. almost everything he posts about the rockets has a bit of vinegar in it.

again, great reporter....not objective on the Rockets.

His bird rights are only significant if the total contact is worth more than another team's offer. If Boston only offers Dwight $100 mil for 5 years and another team offers him $110 for 4 years Dwight will leave.

 

T.Jones for Bass in a heartbeat, but doubt Morey wants that extra year on his deal. Maybe if they throw in a good 2nd.

All depends on if they want to give up a 1 and what protection. Because Morris/Tucker is an underwhelming haul. Doubt Knight would be available or if Morey would be interested at his salary.

I almost kind of feel like what these media guys are doing is trying their damnest to make whoever ends up trading for Dwight to feel like they are idiots ahead of time. All the while I think there are PLENTY of teams that want him but people in the organization are so worried about public perception that it might be a huge reason why teams are hesitating to pull the trigger.

The media actually has power here in creating perception. And McHale going on national radio to talk about how Howard can barely run up and down the court isn't helping either I'm sure.

The NBA is a weird sports league. Its all about image, and Dwight Howard trades are all about that. Any other player putting up the numbers he is without the name Dwight Howard, and you get a major haul for that player. But the fact is the media LOVES to shame Dwight Howard because it sells & creates page clicks because fans around the nation just love to hate him. So in turn they are now pre-shaming the team that trades for him, and the NBA is obsessed with Image.

That my friends is the biggest problem with a Dwight Howard trade. Not his knees, or his age, or his contract... its about the image of "what will people think of me if I trade for Dwight Howard"...

It's a combo of Gay. We need another playmaker...it would also include Darren if we lose tye, or if we are lucky, Belli.

But, the Kings are a mess, and Boogie is by FAR my favorite big man.

 

if a team doesn't want to pay him they wont' trade for him.

But if they do pay him, he will resign with them. That's nto a rental.

A rental is someone who even when you pay more with the bird rights he's still going to look around in FA.

(And for this same reason, while Dwight isn't a rental, is bird rights is also a negative. Becuase you have to deal with Fegan and tell him "no 5 year max" ).
