UH has never been in the mix and it's unlikely they ever will be. The conference already has 4 very large Texas schools guaranteeing blanket presence across the state. UH really adds little to no value to this particular conference.

I only hear UH to the Big 12 from people affiliated with UH. Same thing with the tier 1 marketing lingo. :p

If I'm UH, I'm pushing hard for the ACC. That would be sweet.

Any chance BYU would join the BigXII solely for football?

It will be great when UH kicks Oklahoma's ass next year in NRG stadium. Embarrass the b12 even further than it already is and call the ACC right after.

BYU Football would be great for the Big 12 but I could see the teams that aren't Texas getting butthurt about making room for another school with its own network.

It's going to be very interesting watching the battle for the 12th spot play out.

Will people in the NYC/Boston area pay for a Big 12 network to watch UConn play the Big 12 'North' every year?

For that matter, will the Houston area pay for a Big 12 network without UT? And if they will, would they pay more for UH?

Will everyone be OK with 2000 miles separating the Eastern and Western-most schools in the Big 12?

Is the Big 12 willing to spurn ESPN (a current major TV partner and possible B12 network owner) to satisfy the Texas blockade? Or vice versa?

It doesn't seem like there's a solution that will make everyone happy, so somebody is gonna have to munch on a turd sandwich before this is all over.

If all their other sports are still in the MWC or whatever podunk conference they're currently in, nobody would care if BYU wants to put their non-conference football games on their own network.

I assumed they'd go independent again, like ND with basketball. Is there precedence for a school having different programs in different conferences?

Notre Dame is in the ACC for everything but football and hockey, btw.

I know schools can be DI in some sports and DII in others, I've never heard of a silly NCAA rule about being in different conferences, but I guess it wouldn't surprise me.

    Same

I still don't get the UofH hate, seems to be a Texas thing. I have no affiliation with the Big 12 and don't live in Texas, but at least from a COMPETITIVE standpoint, not even considering UofH is dumb, especially considering the increasing irrelevance of the Big 12.

I have a lot of ACC friends and they all want UofH in their conference.

It's not UH hate whatsoever. It's the UH fans who are crying about it. I know they want to join a conference with the big boys, but if I were a UH fan I'd prefer the ACC. Watch a few seasons of BIG 12 football. It's the most boring conference out there.

Eh. The only people I see claiming UH is totally irrelevant, has zero chance, etc are the Texas blockade fanboys.

Impartial observers frequently place UH in the top 5, if not top 3, options for expansion.

Like I said, nobody is a perfect addition for the Big 12 (not even BYU or Cincinnati).

The more objective the evaluation criteria are, the more I like our chances.

b12 football is spread offense and no defense which means no national champions anytime soon. basketball has decent chances but b12 basketball is up and down compared to consistent powers like the ACC and PAC12, and BIG EAST. Even SEC outpaces b12 basketball on average.

I would have liked to removed the word "crying", as I'm a T-Shirt Cougar fan. I just don't understand why most want in the Big 12 so bad over the ACC. Hell, I'd rather Texas go to the ACC than stay in this lame conference.

this. With regards to BYU, I'm not really a fan of the football only memberships. It's not clean, nice and neat. I don't think BYU is worth that. I would have thought Memphis would be a good target but maybe ESPN has no interest in adding a team from ABC (parent company) territory.

Cooger weiners don't get nearly as hard over playing ACC teams as they do old SWC rivals.

My hope is that the PAC 12 goes B1G style long-game and breaks into Texas, New Mexico, and/or Oklahoma.

I think we have a lot in common with ASU, Arizona, USC, UCLA, etc.

Metropolitan research-oriented schools in the Pacific & Southwest.

Probably not for football alone but think they would for basketball, both men's and women. The Big 12 is currently the best basketball conference in the nation, adding UConn and UC to the mix would be HUGE IMO.

This is my biggest issue with BYU. Good sports and school but every current member outside of Tech is well over 1000 miles away. Factor in no games on Sunday and it doesn't make any sense geographically.

This is the only guarantee in realignment.
