Think I'm about out on this show. Episode barely kept me interested, but apparently most here thought it was one of the better ones. The payoff to the opening scene was cool, but the zombie scenes were terrible IMO. Walking dead Zombies are just pathetic, not scary and definitely not convincingly dangerous (except for the rare instances they use ninja skills). So glad they killed that annoying family... except for the cute mom. Maybe they will make the Neagan arc will more interesting.
Since the zombie threat is so mundane now and adds no suspense, the show is much better when the primary antagonist is a human group. The last time I truly enjoyed the Walking Dead was the Governor arc.
That episode was great. The zombies aren't individually dangerous. It's the mob of the surprise zombie combined with the situation. I thought the governor arc dragged on way way way too long. I'm not super pumped about the negan arc because of how dragged out the governor one was. Hope they don't do that here.
Perhaps my problem is I find the mob of zombies not really dangerous either. The show portrays them as not only incredibly slow but also physically weak, to the point that a scared overweight female character could easily knock over and evade. Agreed about the governor dragging, i blame the andrea storyline as well as the unnecessary stretching of the storyline. Otherwise I thought it was an entertaining arc. I'm somewhat excited for Negan, as there is much more depth/story to it than the Governors arc. I think if done right it could last two season without dragging. At this point the show is only one major arc (or major setting) behind the comic so it'll be interesting how they'll handle.
They should have ended the Asian last night. The zoms had em. Should have let a main die to kick it off right.
I just realized this whole season isn't even two days of show time, yet. Rick's stupid plan to herd the mob was yesterday. Oh, the mob threat is real. Very real. If it weren't for Glenn's buddy dropping on top of him, and Glenn being able to squeeze under a dumpster with 4" clearance without any zombies noticing him, and Ginger and Sasha having incredible timing with their assault rifle heroism...all in one day..., we would have lost one of the show's OGs this year.

I agree, That's the danger. You can't run forever, you're gonna get tired sometime. You have to sleep sometime. These walkers never sleep and never get tired. So hundreds of them around you is not an easy thing. That group would all be dead if Abraham and co didn't return with the gas truck.
The show is very inconsistent with how it portrays the zombies. Some episodes they are very strong, silent, dangerously quick, and can bite through sheet metal. Other episodes they are bumbling, weak, frail, detectable from a mile away, and somehow forget they have teeth. Typically this is because the writers are lazy and/or stupid. They write themselves into situations where they need either a super strong zombie or a totally worthless zombie to get them into or out of whatever dumb corner they wrote themselves into. There's a lot of great production value in these shows (which requires a LOT of effort by many many people behind the scene), and clearly talented actors who care a lot about their parts, but the writers/showrunners are really just baffling stupid sometimes.
Glenn is an OG. He's been on this show since the very beginning. You don't just kill an OG like that. That scene was awesome man. #respect
We all know how Glenn is gonna go down. Spoiler People need a reason to hate Negan, after all. Spoiler
Then the writers shouldn't put him in stupid/lazy situations. Kill him or let him be. Carl getting shot in the eye and surviving exemplifies a pattern of stupidity.
I was really annoyed by that too, but after looking at this gif, it's clear what they were trying to go for (shot across the temple/eye, not *into* his eye). Which is what happened in the comics... although they did a poor job of illustrating what happened in the show.
I agree. But,It is a zombie show man. Either give me some bad ass zombie action or not. That's all I want out of the walking dead.
I too sometimes feel some of the situations are ridiculous but then I remember I am watching a science fiction comic book brought to TV.
I haven't read anything but I don't think Glenn is gong to die...I have a feeling its going to be Darryl. Dude is set to film another show...
