Its a dietary problem. You can have excuses for not exercising, but you don't have excuses for a poor diet.

    this.

I think people are overestimating the influence of exercise and physical activity and dismissing the discipline of eating properly.

    bad food = cheap
    bad food = fast
    bad food = plenty
who doesn't like cheap and fast..and a lot of it?

humans are setup to fail by companies milking every dollar for their own benefit.

does mcdonalds give a rat ass about your waistline? no. thus they bring the 2 dollar menu. everyones definition of healthy food is a salad. you have to explore beyond salads. i could go on and on but u get the idea.

Certain preventative health issues do effect certain "racial groups" more than others. Hispanics are more likely to get diabetes than their peers, while them white folks are more likely to get cholesterol issues.

I find the easiest way to eat healthy is to plan ahead.

By providing cheap food they are making people fat? Just eat less of it, problem solved. Doesn't require planning, just some self control.

it's both. It's hard to not gain weight when you don't burn calories at all

People don't really appreciate the simple rule of calories in and calories out.

But let's be real, the main factor is the diet.

It's easy and inevitable to lose weight when you are dead. (only dead people have a TDEE = 0) Most bloaters could lose a ton of weight if they ate 2000kcal a day just laying in bed. Add in an actual job of work and bump that up. It takes effort and money to consume the amounts of food people of walmart did to become morbidly obese. It has nothing to do with exercise to access to healthier foods.

Empty calories are probably the worst. Its a lot easier to diet once you cut out crap like chips, non-diet soda, cookies, cake, ice cream, etc.

If anything it takes less money or effort to live that lifestyle. Would they rather grocery shop and make a healthy meal or eat a bag of chips and drive to a takeout place.

These people would probably feel like they are going to starve to death if they ate 2000 calories a day.

I just don't think people truly understand how much less they have to eat.
