It was a stupid symbolic ban. It didn't prevent lobbyists from influencing anyone. It was part of Obama's 2012 posturing against corporate influence of elections. This ban didn't actually prevent anything. It was showmanship. You have to fight fire with fire in elections. Those lobbyists are giving money to campaigns and Super PACs anyway.

The ban was put in place in 2008. 2012 is when it really started getting chipped away at in response to the Romney money machine. The de-fanging has been a gradual process, and while I agree that Obama didn't put in any effort to insure the ban had teeth once elected, this is the last nail in the coffin.

    It sends the wrong message.

Clinton is gonna get money either way. However, my question does the money differ if it comes from the DNC vs Super-pacs?

She's not allowed to coordinate with super-pacs (I'm not sure if any candidates actually follow this rule) so maybe she wants more cash that her campaign can direct more effectively and specifically. Bernie's advantage might be that all of the money he gets can be directed exactly towards how his campaign wants it to be directed. There have already been numerous reports of him having way more ground game in South Carolina and new offices opening up nation wide.

Clinton might just be saving up for the general, but also may have realized she needs more cash in the short term to secure the nomination.
Either way, this move stinks of establishment policy
