Yes. Thank you Dwight Howard..you were the lone bright spot that was consistent throughout the series.
Imagine a Dwight and Lillard pairing. I know Dwight was thinking it. Harden needs to figure something out, you can't half ass your way to a championship.
He played magically, no pun intended (maybe a little) Seriously monster series from him, he's ready to go all the way, Harden and CO need to get there stuff together.
Have to admit that I wasn't expecting Dwight's playoff performance. I honestly expected Harden to establish himself as our team's clear superstar. I still love Harden but Dwight showed me a ton of heart and stepped up BIG TIME. Regular season stars are one thing but superstars are forged in the postseason. Congratulations, big fella! Much appreciation for being the leader (on both ends) we desperately need moving forward. I'm thrilled he's the Rocket carrying on our big man tradition. That's something I would not have said at the start of the season. Thanks for proving me wrong. Respect.
anyone see him looking like he wanted to cry at the press conference? Dude poured his heart out only to be let down, this series really hurt him. I'm expecting Harden to take his game to another level next season too
The news of the Rockets putting Dwight Howard on the trading block is certainly a disappointing turn of events. Morey and the Rockets being able to sign Dwight was a big deal for the organization. It was thought to be one of the most important free agency signings in franchise history. Daryl proved he could wheel and deal to get a star with James Harden, but getting Dwight proved he also knew to recruit and sell star players to Houston. They even put together a ceremony for Dwight's free agency signing and a lot of the Rockets former bigs like Dream and Yao were there. I was there too. They unveiled a huge Legacy of BIGS banner. Spoiler I was never a huge fan of Dwight. I liked Omer Asik and didn't think Dwight would be able to give the team that much additional value for almost triple the price. Plus I was concerned about his compatibility with Harden. Everyone knows Harden's best skills are driving to the basket and finishing or drawing fouls, along with finding open 3pt shooters. Howard has zero synergy with Harden's skill set since he has no jump shot to speak of and clogs the paint. But I recognized the importance of getting a big name like him for the organization. This was star #2, so naturally star #3 should be even easier to get, right? Alas, we didn't get that 3rd star and lost a bunch of pieces in the process of trying to get one (Chris Bosh). Still, thanks to Dwight and Harden, we had a very memorable postseason last year. Dwight consistently delivered in the playoffs and showed there's still a little Orlando Dwight in him. I hope we can all take a moment to look back on his playoff domination and not dwell on the negatives, as many as there are. #PlayoffDwight will be missed. Thanks for the memories. I actually agree. I was just watching videos of Dwight Howard's 30th birthday. Harden and Howard looked good friends to me. We are just in a mega funk perhaps? Who knows. We should definitely be flipping some of other pieces for anything of use.
4 out of 5 of those videos are Howard in 2014 vs Lopez.... Just saying lol. Agreed premature thread, there is no deal that has surfaced and we might end up keeping him until free agency.
Howard is the furthest from Rockets problem this season. If he's being traded, because Morey thinks he's the problem... Houston, we have a GM problem. And an owner problem, who thinks Harden is untouchable. Howard gave most ****s this season. Didn't complain about shooting 5 times a game, didn't complain about playing 1 on 5 defense. Didn't blame teammates when everyone blamed him for Rockets problems. Dwight did everything he could to maintain team chemistry. I bet he didn't even want to fire McHale, but didn't want to argue with Harden so he went along. Aside stupid fouls, he seems very mature, compared to past Dwight. If he was younger and with better injury record, no way he'd be traded. Beard is the problem, not the Biceps. At the same time I'm interested to see how Dwight does on a real contender, but Morey will likely trade him to an outsider.
As someone who thinks Dwight should definitely be moved, this would be the worst jinx thread ever. That said, he's got to go. Morey can't continue losing assets for nothing. Happened with Yao and then Parsons.
It's kind of a problem that he doesn't fit with our superstar. If you don't think that's an issue then you don't value chemistry either. Not to mention that Dwight can walk this year and we get nothing in return. Interesting that you failed to mention all the games he missed this year (and last) that ruined continuity. He shouldn't complain about minimal shots, especially when you consider that he's such a terrible offensive player that he doesn't deserve a single touch. He should be nothing more than an expensive D. Jordan, Bogut, or Chandler.
When Dwight is basically playing 2-1 in the paint cause Corey can't do **** I'm there is gonna make it a little difficult
