The Astroturf caught on fire in St Louis. Nothing dangerous but there is a burn mark near the end zone. They said "Astro Turf" a LOT. Any press is good press?

St. Louis' field was made by FieldTurf. So, in a way to answer your question...yes.

What's that stuff flying up when something drags on the field? Looks like dirt ... Is that rubber?

When you watch the slo-mo of the field turf in St. Louis burning, you will see a streaking Eric Yelding.

Maybe he didn't know they changed the turf and was in auto blame it on the turf mode?

You are correct. It was FieldTurf prior to the current surface being put in.

Levi stadium since day one has had one of the worst fields in the nfl. that's nothing new unfortunately.

I don't understand why they have an inability to grow a good field there? Its not like they have the same problems that NRG has in terms of sunlight/wind-pattern issues... and its not like its located in an area where grass routinely dies.

It has to be something inherent to the grounds crew and/or the base overlay of the stadium itself.

Hell, the SB field was brand new (which sometimes can cause slippage issues), but it wasn't the same field they had issues with during the season, and installation was supervised by the NFL.

Speaking of the SB field, did you guys hear they accidentally painted both endzones Broncos? Had to go back and paint the Panthers side again, but it still showed faint Broncos lol.
