Would you trade Ariza/Dwight for Kevin Love?

  1. Yes. Dwight is a goner anyways and Love is really good.

  2. No, I don't think that trade is worth it and am not as high on Love.

    LOL

So your plan is too take the 32 million in cap space we would have.

You plan to easily nab Barnes (max 22 million) and Horford or Conley (max 26.4m)

Then you want to use our remaining negative 16 million in capspace to nab Anderson, who will command big money, probably 15+ million.

I think I can see why we don't agree on the approach.

I'd substitute Thompson for Love. Howard, Ariza and Terry for Thompson, Mozgov, Delli, Smith and some picks.

    I'd rather go full tank.

Love is more of a third wheel guy

It may be time to be patient and build a real team through the draft. I can't take too many more Harden,Ariza, or Howard acquisitions. Its like when we go all in for big trades lately , we make a minor jump and stall soon thereafter. It's frustrating .

You don't want Harden playing off the ball. You need someone to be a playmaker in addition to Harden... not instead of him.

Harden's usage is 32%, there's plenty of possessions to go around. Westbrook has a similar usage and he's playing with Durant who has a usage of 29.5 and Kanter at 22.9 and Ibaka and Waiters each at 17.5.

Our problem isn't a shortage of touches, instead the issue is who is consuming those touches:

    Josh Smith 24.9, Thornton 24.1, Jones 19.6, Brewer 17.8, Howard 19.5.

LeBron (31.4), Irving (29.3), Love (23), Mo Williams (22.7), JR Smith (19) and Mozgov (17) manage to play together so why would it be an issue for us? They do a good job of keeping the ball in the hands of guys that can make plays. We spend quite a bit of time with the ball in the hands of guys that can't make plays for themselves or others.

even though Love is better than Dwight in many ways, this is bad for our team. The problem is defense, which Love has none of.

Neither Dwight nor Love have the fire in them to be a locker room leader (which is our other problem aside from defense).

In a vacuum, I take Love , but add context of our failure this season, and you see Love just makes things worse.

I'd go and geat a strong defense big man with worst offense than Howard. Believe it or not, a scrub like Biyombo would actually make our team much better just because of team need.

Question: Is there anyway to get Horfor and Teague? seems impossible with Dwight trade value so low at this point. I feel Dwight/Ariza AND Harrell would be required. At least some sort of young gun prospect that the Hawks would want (Capela is not up for grabs if we're losing Howard).

    <script type="text/javascript" src="http://widgets.sports-reference.com/wg.fcgi?css=1&site=bbr&url=%2Fcontracts%2FHOU.html&div=div_payroll"></script>

The only guys on this list who would be here next year under my scenario are Harden, Bev, Ariza, Brewer, Dekker, McDaniels, Capela, and Harrell.

I pointed out the Rockets should try and move Brewer along with Jones/Lawson/whoever else they need to for expiring contracts and (prob second round) picks.

That would leave the Rockets with players under contract with a combined cap hit of ~$38 million...

The cap is going to be ~$90 million last time I heard (though my info on the topic could be dated)

If Barnes and Horford (or Conley) both get $20+ million each, that would leave us at ~$80 million.

That gives us enough to sign one of Ezeli or D-Mo.

You guys are right that Anderson will probably get a lot more.

Scenario seems legit. Though admittedly, I'm not the best at cap stuff and could be completely wrong about this :)

    dwight production > love's production

in basic terms, scores the same pts, slightly more rebounds and obviously defense
love doesnt fit with the big 3, or he doesnt fit well with a contender?

either way, HELLLLLLL NOOOOOOO! and ariza? wtf is up with this stretch 4 obession on cf

Problem is no matter with how many defensive-minded guys we'd surround a Harden+Love duo, it would still be terrible. You can't go deep in the playoffs or expect a good defense when you start two of the worst defenders at their respective positions.

thats why op wants to re-sign dorsey and teach him some wwf moves. when someone on the other team gets hot, just put dorsey in and give him a good clothesline or body slam.
like how they foul dwight, all ball!

Do you believe the team has any delusion of winning the ring this year? If not you take love and if he doesnt fit you trade him.

I was not talking about this season. I don't see a Harden+Love duo ever working, so a trade would be completely pointless (unless Cle realllyyyy wants Dwight, you absolutely win the trade and only do this with the intention to trade Love later for a package or star that complements Harden).

Yup. But first try to use love to recruit Durant. ( and if llull ve doesnt work even after that trade him anyway).
Trading love this summer or generally next year will be much easier if we get him because most teams will have capspace to absorb his salary( or will be piece of cake to clear it) so they can send us smaller rookie contracts and picks.

    For example :
    1)take love.
    2) spend the rest of the season seeing if its possible to fit here
    3) bring him to the Durant meeting. Much easier to pitch Durant when there is another star in the team and not only Harden.
    4) get Durant? Great. See if it can work. Dont get Durant? Thats ok. Try to pitch Batum or perhaps Whiteside.
    5) If love doesnt work trade him and get back multiple young cheap prospects and picks while clearing capspace to try recruit other FA Next summer.

Example of a Love trade that will be feasible this summer : Love for Ilyasova + Kcp + Stanley Johnson + a 1st.
Kcp and Johnson are cheap young wings with potential and great defenders.

Love for Smart + Crowder and a first.
Love for Hezonja + A.Gordon + a first or Harris.
if kroenke remains delusional and desperate in wanting a star: Love for Gallinari + Barton.
If sharver does the same : Love for Bledsoe + Len
Etc etc deals will be much easier because everyone will have capspace.
But as you said the possibillity that Lebron wants so much Dwight is small and so is this trade. Doesnt mean its not to our big advantage. We steal value.

Love won't put us over the top, we'll just be back in this same position after a couple years "honeymoon period", and James will be even older.

An ideal trade would net the Rockets a good young player and a top 10 pick. Avery Bradley + the Dallas pick would be awesome.
