Alot of the rockets problems are highlighted in this thread. Think about all the proposed trades in this thread and all the moves Morey has made just or unjustly. How many players have the rockets drafted, nurtured, and kept pass their rookie deal since Morey has been gm? I'll wait?
I think morey is exactly where he wants to be. Just about at .500, and a chance to really change this teams identity. So many assets now that Dwight is ready to be traded. Watch him pull a rabbit out of the hat.
PREACH preacher. Look at Toronto with Lowry, Patterson and Scola all doing well there. I think he flips role players FAR too often, and hopes it works out...and I don't think for one second there is any thought about how players games fit. DD
Going over possible trade ideas with possible destinations ideas involving Celtics Howard, Thornton for Lee, Bradley and Celtics 2016 1st Howard, Terry, Thornton for Lee, Jerekbo, Olynyk and Celtics 2016 1st In the 2nd trade, Olynyk can be replaced with Smart. In either trade the Celtics 1st could be replaced with the Dallast 1st. Bulls trade idea Howard, Terry, Thornton for Noah, Gibson, Portis and Bulls 1st Cavs trade idea Howard, Ariza, protected 1st for Love, Varejao Wizards trade ideas Gortat, Nene, Porter + protected 1st for Howard, Ariza and Jones Hornets trade idea Jefferson, Williams, Kaminsky, Hornets protected 2016 1st + 2nds for Howard, Terry, Thornton.
Good thinking, but Cleveland surely would insist on Ariza. This is also a complete overhaul in the middle of the season, with no time to gel. The key is getting good players back, while leaving open the possibility of making a run at Durant. Besides getting defensive talent (and a "superstar" in Love) back, the other important thing about these trades is that they'd change the chemistry/attitude pretty drastically. That's why I like those Atlanta players. If you did end up having to include Ariza in a deal, it would be nice to get Korver from the Hawks.
I think it's still possible that Dwight Howard is not traded and that Houston takes the risk of trading him in the offseason. I also think that if the market is so bad for Dwight that he may not opt out which he may eventually see could be his smarter option. While I understand the logic of him opting out, I seriously doubt he gets over 22 million a yr anywhere else and it's likely to be closer to 75% of that in a state with salary taxes. All that said Houston has been known to dump players high and dry in it's history as well and it may be a good way to show loyalty, even at a loss. If this is at all the case with Houston then they will look to improve the team around Dwight and James. The Ty Lawson experience is 100% on DM and he has to fix it. We are also struggling at PF. IMO I think Houston attempts to trade Lawson and in this case Ariza, although they would prefer Brewer here for Jrue Holiday and Ryan Anderson. Dekker may be included if it's with Brewer and not Ariza.
That all translates to a high turnover team. When their is high turnover on the team, how can guys get used to playing with each other? Classic example, Lawson. Really, really good player, but if the coaching staff doesnt get through to Harden to play off ball to make the team better, what good is it? If you're going to play like that, then get a different type of psduedo pg.
Hawks have plenty of money to spend this summer so I have no idea whyd they give two of their top 3 players for 3 bench players to clear cap.
Celtics aren't giving us Bradley, Smart, Thomas, or Crowder. I would propose a trade of: Dwight Howard & Jason Terry (he gets cut and returns to Dallas) for David Lee (buy him out?), Jonas Jerebko, Tyler Zeller, and 2016 1st Rounder via Boston/2016 1st Rounder via Dallas David Lee is expiring and probably won't contribute much to this team. Zeller is intriguing. He can shoot! That's a relief. Then there's the wild card, Jonas Jerebko. Dude can hit 3's. Somewhat of a good defender. Yes. It's not much talent wise, but those picks could help us with other trades. Whether that means moving Lawson, Brewer, or even Ariza for a PF or some extra depth.
IGNORE THIS. I just came up with the best trade ever. Let me explain the picks that would occur in this trade. Hawks would get TWO first rounders from Boston in 2016: One of their own and the one via Dallas. Rockets would get Minnesota's 2016 pick and Nets 2017 1st Rounder, both which Boston owns. Again.. the picks are the most crucial part of this trade. Now behold... http://espn.go.com/nba/tradeMachine?tradeId=zz2zcb6
The best trade for both teams are Love and Mozgov for Dwight Mozgov Love Ariza Harden Beverly Our big men would be able to catch the ball and make free throws Pick and pop with Love and Harden would be beautiful Dwight Thompson Lebron JR Irving Cavs will own the boards against any team in the league and their interior defense will be so tough
Howard, Ariza, Rockets 2018 protected 1st, Knicks 2016 2nd for Love and Varejao Trade Jones for pick Dump Varejao, Brewer with picks in off season Sign Conley to max, sign vet SF (Dudley, Tucker, Deng, Johnson etc) to 8 mill deal Match Dmo, sign vet min players Conley / Beverley Harden Dudley / Dekker Love / Harrell Capela / Motie + vet min players + new defense oriented coaching staff and system.
Two guys I wouldnt mind targeting - One a veteran center - Brook Lopez The other a rookie forward - Porzingis Doubt if either are reasonable targets .... just throwing crap at the wall.
How about this two trades. Howard + T-Jone for Horford + Splitter Lawson for Bayless + Vasquez For the first trade, Atlanta is seeking for a true big man to pair with Millsap, while Howard will be glad to play for his hometown team. Horford can be better than Howard as second offensive option. For the second trade, Milwaukee can get a boost in offense from Lawson's passing ability, especially in transition. Bayless is a better scorer at point guard position, he will be useful in second unit. Vasquez is only for salary balance purpose. All these guys are expiring contracts, it won't impact Morey to chase Durant in free agency, and an upgraded roster can be more attractive than OKC roster. Eventully, I want to see a lineup of Beverley, Harden, Durant, Horford and Splitter with Ariza on the bench heading into next season's training camp. It can be best if Noah replace Splitter in free agency.
No. Because howard is too old and paying him 30 per will be problematic for the two upcoming max rookie extensions. The teams who will want howard will probably be in the playoff hunt.
