You're going to be disappointed like everyone else who thinks one player "can make all the difference" on this team, especially a "role player." Or, when he can't make a big difference, are you going to blame everyone else? or say, "well, the team has given up now, so no one make a difference."

It's kinda funny how he's is only on the Vipers who set screens all the time, while team jack 3's w/ and w/o screens.

A lot of the posts in this thread would have you think we're getting Lebron James back.

To be fair Dunleavy is 9-10 years older than DMO.

On the other hand he's not so big, and he had his surgery in August. So much later than DMO and he is sooner back while he's 33.
He also had a set back as well.

I doubt we'll see last season's DMo this season. I think he'll need at least a productive and healthy off season to get anywhere near what he was last season.
And I'm pretty sure he's going to miss the Olympics this summer, because he won't have insurance being without a contract or even if someone signs him fast, they're not going to allow him to participate. Sad sad sad...

if he signs his QO it will get to september and he won't participate. If he signs in July then I don't think teams have the ability to prohibit players from playing with their NT. It's only Februray. From now to then there is plenty of time to be prepared to play for the Olympics.
    Don't despair Lithuanian fans.
And if he signs with Toronto , I think Masai would like to see how the frontcourt of Val+ DMO would look like.

Bwhahaha and the love affair continues. I see a few members love trolling reality around here. I don't know what reality has done to y'all but on the cool y'all need to leave it alone, reality that is.

Like Heypartner stated it's going to take a team effort. Starting from D. Morey all the way to the last man the bench.

Oh and before some jump off the cliff, when I say Morey, I'm strictly talking about him making trades that could possibly help turn things around.

Its just an example of another player coming off back surgery. I'd be willing to bet that if we listed all of the players that had back surgery in the last 5 years in the offseason, we'd see a very common theme regardless.... That you can't expect that player to be 100% that next season, and you can expect a season of hard work to get back to where you were previously. Even Dwight... a physical freak of nature, wasn't right for more than an entire season. While Dwight was still a very good player in his first two seasons with the Rockets, he never got back 100% of where he was before back surgery.

Its just one of those things that people here are incredibly ignorant about for whatever reason. It just boggles my mind.

I think D-Mo will be fine eventually since his game really doesn't revolve around athleticism at all, but he still needs another offseason of work to get back to where he was. Also a training camp to play off the rust with no expectations that come with playoff like games (importance wise at least the Rockets now have put themselves in a position to where now they are essentially playing for their playoff lives).

Hope D-Mo proves me wrong and comes out gangbusters dropping Scola-Scoops and Captain Hook trickshots. Nothing would make me happier (but the fact that I posted stuff like the above means I'm a D-Mo hater and TJones lover I guess).

No his game relies on athleticism because athleticism is not just jumping high. It's also banging down low, strength, taking charges , balance etc.
His game does not rely on athleticism as MUCH as Dwight, but it relies just fine.

And compared to Dunleavy who is well over 30 DMO's rehab has been much slower. Which is very worrying.
But hopefully he looks on his way back. I am patient.

Again... it was just an example. I'm not comparing D-Mo's body to Dunleavy's body, and Dwight's body, etc. Its just another example of how an athlete (or human for that matter) can't just hop off the surgery table and play 25 minutes a night in an NBA season, and deal with the other grueling physical activities.

IT TAKES TIME. Like a year. Not a few weeks or months.

D Mo is also a bigger dude - that definitely affects recovery time.

Agreed it takes time, but even for most players his timetable is on the longer end.

Scumleavy is like 34 right? I think that's more important than height.( height is also extremely important dont' misundestand me,but the timetable for one in the start on his peak and prime and one who is with one leg out of the league athletically is much different).

I'm not sure how much each weights into recovery, to be honest. Certainly, there's a huge difference between 25 and 50. But these guys are all at peak physical condition and have access to the world's best trainers, so certain variables might end up falling out. One thing that is consistent is that since the back is constantly bearing weight, it takes a very long time to recover from a back injury. The more weight you bear (i.e. the bigger your mass), the harder it is for the musculoskeletal system to recover. I'd expect that as a person ages from 25 to 35, it becomes harder to recover if all other things are the same. But I don't know that you can compare two players of different body types and ages and necessarily conclude that the older person will always take longer to recover - I think the body type and the mass have a lot to do with recovery time. In some studies age and gender don't have much predictive value in recovery, but these are typically in older non-athletes. In smaller studies of kids, age seems to correlate with longer recovery but these studies don't really correct well for musculoskeletal mass. Bottom line is there's a ton of factors and age might be one of them but body type and mass have a lot to do with recovery in these guys.

Hopefully all of the nonsense lately will be the last batch of outbursts from the Jones agenda crew and after this they'll be able to just admit they were wrong and move on with life. It's pretty pathetic, but not wholly unsurprising. I think things will get a lot better around here once they do actually move on and just accept that they were wrong over the last few years instead of lashing out and throwing temper tantrums.

Yes repped. Very interesting. Hopefully someone does a research on the subject.
I only know about ACL's because I looked into it when Jabari went down. And age is the most crucial factor beyond body type.
The younger the basketball player , the sooner he comes back and the less affect on his athletic ability.
Age for sure affects back injuries as well, we just don't know at what degree and if it's more important than body type.
Noone has a Jones agenda and the only way for the situation to improve is when trolls like you are finally banned.

I am not so much concerned about athleticism when it comes to back injuries, but about core strength. Back injuries and surgeries are extremely debilitating, regardless of whether you can jump a foot or jump a meter. IMO, it will take over a year before D-MO completely regains form, if he does.

 Whatever you say kiddo, I think it's pretty clear that you are just trolling me for calling out people you agree with. It's okay though, I think you guys will come along eventually, you just have to get this nonsense out of your system. With that in mind, I'll try to take a step back to let you guys go nuts for a while so that you don't feel like you have to throw too big of a temper tantrum before eventually coming to your senses. It's probably for the best.

An agenda is => saying that DMO's setback is fake so Jones could be showcased.
Discussing DMO's rehab and recovery timetable is not an agenda.
An agenda is => being happy that one of the most tradeable assets of the team has lost value

You have an agenda. I do not.

    Kiddo.

For the record, I said that DMo could have played through his "setback" for the most part as Dwight did, not that it was "fake".....and that's not an "agenda" it's just taking evidence from past precedent and applying it to current situations.

In no way am I happy that Jones became totally and completely worthless AND got into a car accident before he was able to be moved. If you remember, I wanted him moved back when he had some trade value.

My "agenda", if you want to call it that, is for the Rockets to do things that are in their own best interest. Moving Jones back when he had some value would have been in their own best interest, so that's why I thought it was a good idea.....of course some wanted the Rockets to hold on to him, which wasn't in the best interest of the team, what would you say their "agenda" was, or would you just say that they analyzed the situation inadequately?
