League leaders in Isolation #1 Harden #2 Melo The Rockets would be the most boring team in the NBA to watch. Oh wait... they already are.
hehe, just what i was going to say. when morey was trying to lure melo here, i had nightmares every night...
We are 1.5 games away from 9th seed. Do we really want to loose out on a lottery pick for a meaningless 1st round exit from a team that's going to be blown up in the off season anyway? I don't, blow it up and take our top 12 pick.
Yeah, I hear you. Don't get me wrong. Melo is a fine player, if you wanna sell tickets, but for championships, not so much. IMO
becoz he's such a great pg/playmaker playing out of position, eh? and dont ever forget to mention he needs a good coach, too...
Fill the team with "basketball first" guys like the Warriors. Build the team with guys who play for their team not for self interest. This team is currently filled with personal interests. JB has subtly alluded to that. Harden is most interested in shoes contracts and nightlife. Compare that to Curry or Lebron. Harden is a great basketball player but he does not lead his life off the court in a way that inspires his teammates. He is supposed to be a leader. Lawson is still trying to prove his own redemption Howard appears to be most interested in his contract and how he is officiated Brewer comes into the game and plays recklessly. He doesn't hold his position in the corner and he doesn't contribute defensively. Beverly is more concerned with his own pride than he is with the primary duties of a point guard. He makes ignorant and careless passes game after game. Terrence is clueless on both ends of the court. We need more guys with the mindset of Ariza, Jet, and DMo. Guys that play within the offense. Guys that you don't hear about on TMZ. FWIW, all of my rambling is my own opinion based on 30 years of observing organized sports and playing multiple team sports. Flame on
The biggest problem with the Rockets roster as currently constructed is that their highest paid player isn't part of the solution .... not that he's the problem , he's just not the solution. As good as Dwert is defensively , he's as bad or worse offensively .... You cant run the offense thru him because of the turnovers and poor FT percentage. He can do nothing besides dunk .... And the chemistry between he and Harden is pretty much Zilch. Roster wise , you were better off with Asik who gives most of what Dwert does defensively and is about as inept offensively for a lot less $$$. If it were up to me , I'd move Dwert for the best package of young talent and picks I could get .... cause I ain't resigning him to anything approaching the max deal he'll be asking for at the end of this season where you'd basically let him walk with no compensation. May as well get something rather than nothing. You really aren't going to replace him defensively but you can improve on the other end while giving yourself a whole lot of cap room to improve elsewhere. I'd also move Lawson for a bag of chips .... Don't get me wrong , I like Dwert as a player .... I just don't believe he fits at all with Harden on in this supposed fast paced offense.
I'd add to that Capella and harrell constantly bust their butts... they're raw and need work, but I have no doubt either would do whatever is asked of them regardless of personal interests...
I think the Boston Celtics recently asked about Dwight but Morey's rumored asking price is too high according to sources. He wanted the Net's pick that was unprotected. I am not sure we move Dwight. I wish that we could move Harden for either a high draft pick or a player like a Jimmy Butler or Paul George. I just don't see that happening either. I think Harden is here for the long haul. Hopefully in the summer the Rockets are able to bring in a coach that doesn't put up with BS (ala Thibs), who preaches D, and Morey is able to bring in better 3 and D players to surround Harden and maybe Howard and Durant as well. That is all you can hope for at this point because honestly this team as constituted is not winning a championship. The sad thing is Alexander has this philosophy that he always wants to win so I don't think we will ever be so bad that we have the number 1 pick year after year like the 76ers. We will forever be mediocre or we will be in the playoffs as often as we can be. That is the life of a Rocket's fan and sadly even a Texans fan at this point.
