That defensive level we saw back then was never sustainable the minute they decided he was the starting pg
Yes, true, you can trade anyone. Can you name another player in the league that has James' value AND a team that would agree to trade that player in exchange for JH? I don't know who that player would be, both from a talent/potential perspective and the overall willingness of a team to trade their superstar(s). I'm not a fan of trading a guy likes James for rookies, role players or future picks. We already know what James is capable of thus far. We don't know how rookies will pan out, nor do we know what the draft will look like. Role players..meh. We don't know what James' ceiling is, but that's an uncertainty that I'm comfortable with.
Ridiculous. So Thibs' influence was so strong that it lasted until the following May. However, come October, it had not only worn off, but there was no evidence that it ever existed in the first place?
I'm good with blowing it up... when everything is clicking they're a fun team to watch - but more often its just frustrating... Let's get a 'Herschel Walker' deal for Harden... personally, I'm not a fan and i think you have to move him if you're gonna affect change in the 'culture' of the team... Hire a real coach... Dial back Morey (he's the GM - not the coach... let the coach dictate style...) I'd try to keep Capella and Harrell and let them develop... DMo is gonna depend on the offers he gets.. too many injuries to tie up too much cap... DHo/Josh... I might keep em for sweetheart contracts... Changing of the guard(s)... Ty was a good try.. Bev is too hit or miss.. we need a solid starting pg. Go hard for Conley or pry one away from Boston...
I am a fan of trading a guy like James for rookies and picks. I have no problem with that at all. The Warriors will be in charge for several more years, and Harden will be a free agent in two and a half years. Start the rebuild now before the assets decline in value or walk away for nothing. Just my opinion, I know others will disagree. I just don't believe in Harden. I'm not afraid to start over again. Sometimes it's for the best.
simple. keep morey, but limit his power and influence. he's good at bargains and trades, but not as good in drafting. most importantly, moreyball isnt working, not here in houston. 7 yrs is long enough. most good coaches cant last that long. hire a good, nba-level head coach. jvg, mario,,, the good ones. get harden some help. i mean, make him #2 is the best help we can get him. that means getting durant or someone who is not only good at scoring but also good at both sides of the ball and can lead. that's all.
I fully agree on points 1 and 2... but I don't think harden's ego would allow him to be a #2 plus he's just too ball dominant... you've gota maximize most all your guys - but you just cant do that with Harden on the court on a consistent basis...
I still believe that the best for this team is to build around James. I hope Morey can see this and make trades on the 18th that will.
We cannot trade Harden. All we can hope is that Harden turns a corner like a young Hakeem and finds something in his life that gives himself meaning beyond hedonistic endeavors. I think it begins and ends with Harden realizing that he can be so much more than he is. I think he has the ability to be the best in the league, but at this point he doesn't want it bad enough. Steph, I never thought could be the best, but damn if he didn't have a goal and damn if he didn't seize the opportunity.
I'm a believer that if Harden settled down with a normal girl, he'd turn the corner. Too bad he likes dem hookers and Kardashians. Dwight needs to be traded before deadline. He's gonna walk for sure because there will be a team dumb enough to give him the max in the off-season. Not us because apparently Morey is putting all his hopes on us getting Durant who I think will end up going to GSW because he's tired of losing, he just wants a ring, he doesn't give a damn what ppl think of him anyways.
Rockets need another all star level scorer. Rockets were good last year because they had a healthy Dmo and he took a lot of pressure off of Harden. If Dmo can’t come back healthy, Rockets need to trade for or sign another scorer. Rockets 2013 roster was better than this roster because it had other players that could score the ball like Parsons. We thought the team needed more play making, it needs more scoring. This roster doesn’t have very many players that can create their own shot. Ariza, Brewer, Beverley, Jones struggle getting their own shot and it leads to a lot of turnovers and poor offense. Forget about Durant. Rockets need to sign Barnes, Horford or Derozan. Harden needs help scoring!
Rebuild around Harden, correctly. Dump everybody and start over in free agency. Go all our for Durant, Horford, Conley etc.
too lazy to read the thread so im skimming it and this is absoltuley true. and i beleive we can get equal value in return. the only problem is lawson if we trade to retool and not rebuild. his contract wont allow it and i'd rathet not trade him for crap
