On the face of it, paying Harrison Barnes $25 mil per year sounds crazy.

Are we sure this guy is going to become an all-star?

no you are right. I was wrong.
His max is 21 per and with the almost expected cap reevaluation let's say it's gonna end up around 22-23.

Why is everyone so happy for Harrison Barnes? He is a product of the Golden State system. Instead of exploding on the scene like James did after Okc traded him Barnes would likely regress. He would be Ariza 2.0 (the first time we got Ariza), but even worse. He benefits greatly from playing with Curry and Draymond. He's only solid at the 4 position because he's playing next to Draymond who draws the opposing team's center away from the basket (which means there is more space to attack.) The Rockets have no stretch 5. If we played Barnes next to Dwight or Capela it would be a colossal fail because those guys need to be close to the basket since they're not an outside threat like Draymond.

Say no to Harrison Barnes. He can be easily replaced by the Warriors anyways, so if he gets traded or signed by another team the Warriors won't slow down by not even a second. Barnes is the most over rated player in the NBA.

Still, he's the only person in the Warriors I like as a person though.

I don't know what a max contract for Barnes would look like, but he wouldn't be brought here as a Harden-type acquisition. He's a great 3PT Shooter, a very good defender, and would essentially allow us to move Ariza for an upgrade elsewhere. We wouldn't ask him to be the #1 option.

Is that worth a massive contract? Probably not - why wouldn't you have just given that money to Parsons? But SF could become a huge weakness very soon, and Barnes is young enough to fill it, and fit into the system, for years to come.

As for Dwight. I like Dwight. I really do. I think he really cares about winning, and is still one of the best defenders in the game. It's just that he is such a damn liability on offense. I would be fine with him if we could find a 4 that could stretch the floor, play defense and rebound. That's why watching this heat game hurts my soul because Bosh was perfect for Dwert.

Think of all the past good teams. A lot them had a big that could stretch the floor. When Timmy plays center he's not stuck towards the rim. You have to come out and defend him as a center which makes a player like Manu or Tony be able to attack the paint all game. The heat played Bosh at center so LeBron and Wade got lots of easy lay ups and space. The Hawks have Horford AND Millsap. The space was great for Teague and Carroll.

Dwight still commands attention, but he can't post up very well and he also can't camp in the paint or else he'll get a 3 second violation.

is it good for Barnes? No. But that's his market value. And there aren't any young better and cheaper SFs we can get. Except Gallo that we dont' have the assets to trade for.

Someone will give him the max. An up and coming team with developing players on low rookie contracts who could use Dwight over the next 3-4 years. He will be 31-34 over that time, declining but still a monster at times, hoping he can help take developing youngsters to the finals in the east.

I wouldn't turn down a $30 mil per year deal if all I'm getting is $22 mil from the Rockets. That's $8 million per year for a player that's getting older, losing athleticism and more injury prone. Run with that cash.

When/if dwight leaves and we are in the lottery, I am actually going to be having a lot of fun laughing at the people saying we are better off without him.

15 points a game on 9 shots. Dude isn't a liability. Capela is a liability. Dwight is a very capable offensive player who receives way too much negative criticizm because it is the popular thing to do.

If we don't give him the max, someone else will. This isn't a good idea - we won't get anyone who fills his role anytime soon.

I would rather have Dwight than not have him. Like I said in the post I would like to have him if we found a 4 who could spread the floor, rebound, and defend. But we don't have any guy on the team who can do those three things.

Don't take my statements as hate towards Dwight because all I did was tell the truth and that's that Dwight not being able to spread the floor is a liability because he's being paid 20m and every other big is either on their rookie contract or on the vets min.

Barnes is horrible. When Jackson tried to make him the #1 option as the bench guy like a Manu or Harden, he failed miserablely.

Kerry had to talk Iggy into playing off the bench because Barnes sucked so much as the "main" guy that the only way Kerr was going to get any production from Barnes was to play him with Draymond, Klay, and Curry so he can get all the OPEN shots he want. This guy gets more open shot than anyone in the NBA and can't create a DIME!!!

It would just be like the the Rockets to sign this Trevor Ariza Jr.

Warriors were better with Rush when Barnes was injured.

Rush shot over 50% from 3's when he was getting all the only shots that Barnes was getting . Barnes only shot 40% from 3's, which is still great, but that 's from OPEN 3's. He ain't getting open 3's with the Rockets.

He'll be getting 3's with 3 seconds left after Harden dribbles for 21 seconds and pass it to him with a man in his face

There are 0 bigs that do what he does and be able to spread the floor. Cousins maybe, but he isn't coming here. So you want dwight to do the impossible or? We can not replace dwights rebounding and presence on D. Capela has showed he is far from ready. If we actually used dwight as we have seen, he will give us good production. Resign dwight to what he wants or around it. Get a coach that knows how to properly use him and harden together. Also a coach that will straighten up harden. Get some good pieces to build around them. Go all in. This is our last chance it seems like for maybe another 10 years. So unless you want to wait 20 years again for a shot at a chip, make sure we resign dwight and make him and harden work.

Ya cause the rockets never get any open 3s. Only contested ones at the end of the clock!! Smh

Do some of you even watch the games?

That play you and others talk about doesnt even happen once a game.

    My goodness...

I just read through the thread and saw the hounding CyberX took from that poster.

I don't see the point, and I hope Cyber still posts here once in awhile.

He shares what he shares as a great fan, on a website that is a "Rockets Family."

I respect that, and I share what I hear/when and if I can.

By the way, the good folks at Relativity Sports and similar agencies don't have spare time to hold phone calls with people who aren't clients. I seriously doubt that poster will be receiving any call tomorrow, and if he/she does, it will be a general follow up without ANY specific information about Dwight or other clients.
