What if the Spurs acquired Chris Paul during free agency? Something that I though about watching tonight's game. I would think he would be a great fit with the system.
You need your thread starting privileges revoked. In this world of adware and crappy journalism, I'm beginning to have an extremely low tolerance for clickbait misleading titles. Good job, I'm sure you'll have a meaningful discussion.
I had a mini heart attack reading this title. FFS. I doubt CP3 would want to go to the small market of SA but of course he would fit perfectly. He would fit perfectly in almost every team in the league.
Not trying to be a dick, but it's just to best to have a title like "What if Spurs acquire CP3?" or something along those lines. To answer your question, it ain't about if CP3 can fit someone's system. CP3 makes no adjustments for a team, the team makes its adjustments for CP3.
Offensive output would be about the same, or maybe slight increase in output. You would actually lose more than you gain though as defensive versatility went down. You need tall Lanky wing defenders or your lineup becomes way to small. Truthfully Paul would be best coming off the bench to solidify that area.
I don't think the Spurs do that either. Paul's only 3 years younger than Parker & Parker's still got 4 or 5 good years left. As for having both Parker & Paul, Parker would take less money & come off the bench to make it happen. That's the mentality of the Spurs organization & players. Paul wouldn't do that.
