He is a great assistant coach but not cut out to be a head coach.
This firing was long overdue. He should have been fired since last year. But the timing for this is weird.
But I thought they would give him this full year. They should have been content now with the tank..they are heading to a top3 pick. For sure they dont' think they can still make the playoffs?
And what happens now to Morris? Do they still trade him or they try to bring a disciplinarian coach and give it another chance, see if he can get Morris' respect?

yeah? It indicates the opposite if anything.
A team that tanks keeps their coach and continues tanking. Then fire him in the summer. To fire him now like that, seems that the owner is angry impatient and delusional. And still have some kind of hope..?

Perhaps the locker room is really bad right now. Beyond bad. They just received a blow out lost to the Mavericks in which Goodwin, Teletovich, and Tucker ALL had terrible nights. I'm sure there was a lot of frustration and the locker room needed some change before things got even more worse.

The best thing to do would to let go Hornacek who probably only has the respect of Tyson Chandler. Maybe even lol. Front office nor players aren't optimistic enough to believe they can make a run for the 8th seed, but 2-19 is terrible.

I think they hire an interim coach, and ride out this season while Booker grows who's having a good season for a teenager.

Stupid team. What are they expecting to do? Do they think that roster should be a contender or something?

Yes maybe. That's why I wonder what happens with Morris. Because Morris never respected Horny. Never. Will they give it another go with Morris trying to see how he reacts to another coach?

Anyway about Booker..Bledsoe will get traded. There were talks with the Knicks for 4 for 13+Bledsoe and now that Booker looks like a future star, Bledsoe is the odd man out who is also too old for their new core.

    Knight
    Booker
    Simmons or Ingram
    Whatever
    Len

    Not bad for a core.

And for the good of the Suns I hope they didnt' fire now Horny because Sarver got it in his mind that the team can do better, and derail the tank, or he wants to hire Blatt or smth like that.

I 100 percent disagree. It would be foolish of the Suns to take Knight over Bledsoe. Neither Bledsoe or Knight can run a team as point, but when Bledsoe is on the court healthy he is up there in the conversation of top 5 point guard in the league. Yes, right after Steph, Russ, and Paul. If anything it is Knight who will be traded soon. Saying that Bledsoe is too old is nonsense. He just turned 26. Besides they need a defensive backcourt mate with Booker, so Knight would be an awful fit because they will get abused defensively until Booker learns how to play NBA defense.

Bledsoe was putting up 20 points on 55 ts%. He has a 16fga to 6ast ratio which is really good unlike Knight who has 17fga to 5ast ratio. Keep in mind the the Suns went south after Bledsoe went down and Knight had to take PG duties.

Trading Bledsoe would be a huge mistake for the Suns. Huge colossal mistake, because chances of finding someone as good of a fit to put next to Booker is low.

Not only does Knight have a worse shot attempt/assist ration than Bledsoe but both his free throw rates and ts% is lower than Bledsoe's.

Bledsoe is flat out better than Knight at being a point guard. Knight is better suited as an expensive 6th man.

Oh I know about Knight dont' worry. I hated watching him and was very happy to get rid of him. He can't run a team. But neither can Bledsoe. (btw they are good fits for each other imo).

And Bledsoe's style of play makes it more probable that he will have a very short prime. Esp with his injuries.

Maybe better for the Suns to trade both of them, or keep Knight as a 6th man of the bench. And get a pg who can run a team. Especially if they dont' get Simmons.
However Bledsoe will fetch more than Knight. And imagine Bledsoe at next year 27 year old in a team with two 20 year old as the cornerstones. It's a waste because that team is headed once again for the bottom of the rankings one way or another (so much and so young talent never wins in the league).

I think that Suns can get great picks from Boston or Orlando or Philly for Bledsoe.

And in the end the Suns FO chose Knight for his leadership abillities something they are dissatisfied with from Bledsoe.

Oh, yeah, I for forgot you're also a Bucks fan Malakas. Sorry lol.

I dunno. Both don't have great point guard skills, but neither does Westbrook but he still manages fine. I think it's not fair to discount Bledsoe though already as a PG for the future. Since he arrived to Phoenix from the terrible Clippers trade Doc Rivers orchestrated he has been sharing ball-handler/point guard duties with Isaiah Thomas, Goran Dragic, and Brandon Knight. Yet, Bledsoe has still manage to find a way to average 17 points on 13.5 shot attempts with 5.9 assist in his three years with Phoenix. I see your very valid point of Bledsoe being 27 playing with 20 year olds, and your also very valid point of Bledsoe's peak being cut short with his very athletic play, but if I'm the Suns I'll take that gamble on Bledsoe still being a productive player into his early 30s when the younger players start hitting their prime.

I like Bledsoe a lot, but I also like Knight. I feel is he is a bit over paid, but Knight could be a very good luxury for a team like the Thunder, Spurs, or Cavs. Not saying he will be traded there, but I'm saying he could make a play off team even better if he is willing to come off the bench.

Plus Bledsoe's trade value is sort of low right now due to his injury. Let him get healthy and let him play the next season with full point guard duties and see how he does. Either his stock will greatly rise and be given tons of a attention by rival GMs due to his play and solid contract or well... I dunno? Haha.

Not necessarily. They have underachieved all season long and frustrations are likely high. Maybe this move was needed for the locker room. Maybe HORNIE has lost the players.

Even if management thinks that the season is lost, it might still be beneficial for the team to go after a new coach now. They might feel like they have a shot at one of the coaches currently available, who knows?!

Either way, if they did in fact find their replacement now, it would give them plenty of time (some 30+ games) to learn the new system. Then go into the offseason, draft who you have to draft, trade who you have to trade, add the pieces you have to add and go into the season without having to learn a new system from scratch.

Yeah, they should have just fired him when they let him fire his assistants. Like that was really gonna work.

Yeah if only he would accept it..but he won't. All his carreer people told him he isn't a pg and the more they tell him the more stubborn and resistant he gets. It will take much more time for him to realise it.

I believe that Bled even with his injury has more trade value than Knight. Plus Knight hasn't been much healthy either. He had that arthoscopic surgery and a hernia now I think.
I don't watch him anymore..I feel sorry for Suns fans. They have come to realise what we knew. And the other fans still dont' know. That last years' success wasn't because of Knight. And that Knight can't run an offence to save his life. He just is blind. (other than that he is a good shooter, a great kid with leadership qualities, who hustles and is very fast. Just stupid).
Horny has lost his lockeroom since last year. It's well known and nothing new.
His players cursed at him they were and are out of control getting techs left and right. No respect whatsoever. That's why even though he is a great assistant coach (hayward has credited him with improving his shooting) he is not cut for a head coach.
And if they have found a replacement and want the coach for next year that is too stupid. They can accidentaly start winning more and from top3 pick suddendly find themselves at top10 pick.
Tanking is not easy. Especially when you are not Philly but actually do have talent in your roster. You need a tank commander. And Horny was perfect for that and it was working. Even if they didnt' want it.
Now it's too late for the playoffs so no idea what Sarver is thinking.
