Galveston sucks and mostly because of the sucky residents there who think they're in some hot **** city.

Every time I'm in Galveston, I see a bunch of Confederate flags flying on houses and on trucks in the beach. What's up with that? Is that a Galveston thing?

Absolutely not, there's a ton of refineries and chemical plants in the Lake Charles area.

That sounds glorious... and people think Galveston won't be able to match that and try and re-capture a chunk of the Texas money that floods there every weekend?

Golden Nugget in Vegas is decent, let Fertittarama put one in Galveston already. Then figure out a way to divert the mighty Mississippi silt machine so Galveston can get some non poop/coffee colored water and it's a win win.

Yep. IMO, Galveston already offers enough to consider it more of a destination than Lake Charles.

I remember reading a while back that the Mississippi River's natural course wants to move further East and away from New Orleans. But, Louisiana's extensive systems of dikes and levees is what keeps it on it's current course.

If we'd just let nature do its thing, I'm wonder if it would have any effect on Galveston's beaches.

Nature does its thing as it is... Galveston has non-brown (dark blue) water days every week (seems to happen more in the winter time, with all the fronts that come in).

If only they could harness the wind/water patterns on those days, and find some way to replicate it to a permanent fix (especially in the summer), water quality would look better more consistently.

Galveston would be solid if it had a couple casinos. Cant overdo it, but it would definitely be successful.
