Martez, Feliz and Musgrove are important pieces. As much as I would like to get lucroy, you can't make this move unless you have a deal in place to get more pitching. Those three will be called upon soon, if not the first half of this year. I'd rather make an incremental love like fister. Our offense will work itself out. Playing Reed/white at 1B has the dual purpose of increasing production (over Carter) and growing our young players/potential trade chips. There is enough potential in Reed/white/Valbuena/gattis/Moran that I'm not bent on pushing in a bunch of chips for lucroy.
The Houston Astros announced Monday that minor league pitcher Jose Rosario died in a motorcycle accident Sunday night in the Dominican Republic. "Our thoughts go out to Jose's family, friends and many teammates," Astros general manager Jeff Luhnow said in a statement. Oz Ocampo, Houston's director of international, said in a statement Rosario was a "true student of the game." "He will be remembered as a long, lanky-framed pitcher with tremendous ability, an outgoing personality and an ever-positive disposition," Ocampo said. Rosario made 18 appearances in the Dominican Summer League and Gulf Coast League in 2015, posting a 4.40 ERA. He spent the bulk of his time as a reliever, making eight starts in those 18 appearances. He pitched 57.1 innings, striking out 51 batters and walking 22.

This is the second time this off-season that I've seen another organization mention the depth of the Houston arms in the minors. Not bad.
So why haven't we signed Tim Lincecum? You just know if he makes it to his February showcase he's as good as gone to the Yankees. I'd sign him let him rehab and then start his assignment in August. There's really no lose in signing him, either you get a really good starter or you get a really good reliever
Because they don't want to now, just like everyone else. or you get a broke down waste of time, or you get a meh AAA starter, or...
Nope I'm going soley off name recognition. I watch the Astros and the astros didn't face Lincecum last year so his "what have you done for me lately" is still Cy Young level in my mind
What's up with Cliff Lee? He's trying to come back this year. I'd definitely give him and Tim Lincecum a shot. Offer them small deals and let them battle it out for a rotation spot. Worse case, we have 2 guys with great experience in the club house, best case we have 2 studs behind our top 3 pitchers.
If those two were willing to sign small deals to battle it out, then why hasn't any team signed them?
3 yrs 75mil for Cesp, not a crazy deal. Only 3 year deal, hes making what 11 mil more then colby? Seriously in terms of spending the Astros have been cheap as fk. This doesnt even have anything to do with Cesp, but what the hell have we spent this offseason? Even with the colby deal handicapping us a bit, wth? Some of you guys can say blah blah you'll financially commit yourself long term and wont have the bank to sign our core players but gtfo. A 3 year deal like cesp would not have locked us down. Attendance will surely go up next year, the csn disaster is gone, and the astros will be a profitable team next season no matter what. Go out there and spend some money.
