Pointing out Kerr and Kidd is like looking at Zukerberg and Bill Gates and saying you don't need a college degree to financially independent, these guys are exception to the rule. If being a point guard in the NBA is all you need to be a head coach then why isn't Rafer Alston a head coach? Tyron Lue isn't Steve Kerr nor is he Jason Kidd, he doesn't have any kind of system in mind and when he was playing he didn't show a genius understanding of the game like Kidd. I get that you say Blatt might not be the guy for the job, but if your life was on the line and you need to win a ring no matter what who will give you a better chance to win THIS year? Blatt? Or Tyron ****ing Lue? Like I said this is just downgrading for no reason, MAYBE Lue can do a better job than Blatt, we don't know. But just because you are not 100% certain is no reason to go with him over Blatt, the chance that Lue will do a better job than Blatt is close to zero.
Ok so given that GSW hasn't collapsed under Luke Walton should GSW then fire Steve Kerr and make Walton the head coach? This is the exact same reasoning Cleveland did when they replace Blatt, Lue was already working for them in the first place and they fired the superior guy and replaced him with someone inferior just for kicks.
Not for no reason, but if Curry couldn't work with Kerr I wouldn't blame management for pulling the trigger, especially if Curry were a free agent at the end of the season and could leave. This is coming from someone who thinks Blatt was treated unfairly and Lebron is being a douche. Honestly, what do you expect them to do? Willingly go back to being the Cleveland of old?
Heat minority owner Ranaan Katz said 2 hrs ago that contrary to a report on Twitter, he never said LeBron tried to get Spo fired in Miami. Katz said he has no information that LeBron tried to get Spoelstra dismissed. — Barry Jackson
Actually, letting LeBron and his cronies run the franchise and sabotage the coach IS the Cleveland of old. Also, if you have to choose between LeBron and Blatt, of course you choose LeBron, but it was LeBron's choice to create the situation that forced the organization to make this decision. Had he been willing to be professional, show basic respect to the coach by giving him a chance to implement his vision, and lead by example, none of this would've happened and the Cavs' chances of winning a ring would've been much higher than they are with LeBron's buddy as his puppet coach.
W/O Lebron the Cavs are probably in the lottery. With him they are in the finals. This is Lebron's legacy. He has gained the most power of any player arguably in the history of the game. You have to give him credit for doing that. If he fails its on him.
If you're talking about THAT Cleveland of old, then I'm sure they're perfectly happy with it. Lebron gets them to the finals, gives them national exposure, makes them money. The Cleveland of old I'm talking about is either pre- or post-Lebron, where they're consistently in the running for worst team in the league. Again, Lebron is being a douche. Management should have done everything they could to get he and Blatt to work together. Maybe they did, I don't know, but the reality is that Lebron could send that franchise to basketball hell if he wanted to. They're lucky he came back and he knows it.
Windhorst said on The Lowe Post "LeBron gave up on him within the first 15 days last year" so it was surprising to see Blatt last as long as he did.
Without Lebron, the Cavs still have Kyrie & Love. No f**king way Lebron is the difference between the team being top of the East and lottery, this is the same stupid argument coming out of Miami in the final year there, how he doesn't have any help. Kyrie & Love still might be good enough for top 3 in the East. The freaking Celtics can't buy a star player to come to Boston with 11 first round picks and they're 4th in the East at the moment. Most expensive team in NBA history, when is Lebron going to learn that truly great basketball teams are not built in a day. He forced that teams hand from day one. Since the Cavs/Lebron's people decided Larry Hughes was his Pippen in 2005, they have never figured out how to organically build a great supporting cast around Lebron. Its a shame, someone with a real basketball mind could have drafted solid talent around him that made sense. Lebron is a career that could have been. Could have been the greatest of all time, but that will never be.
Love isn't resigning in Cleveland if LeBron isn't there. It's not like he or Kyrie have led teams to the playoffs.
This is a dumb argument, but you're just flat out wrong if you don't think Kyrie & Love can't lead Cleveland to the playoffs.
Miami is the 8th seed without lebron. They might not even make the playoffs. Love and Irving would be a lottery team or maybe an 8th seed. Kyrie just wants to dribble the ball and love seems like a guy who puts up points on a bad team. If Lebron left Cleveland they would not be good. Of course if he left Cleveland I expect his house to get burned down.
Guys with limited coaching experience are the exception to the rule. You made it seem like there is no way a coach with limited bench experience (say 2 years or less like Lue) could be successful. We've shown that to not be the case. Lue hasn't proven jack in this league. Neither did Blatt in his time in Cleveland. HIS COACHING WASN'T IMPRESSIVE!
I don't think Kyrie & Love would lead them to the playoffs because if LeBron doesn't go to Cleveland then they aren't trading their #1 pick for Love. A dumb argument would be to speak on a duo that would not have existed.
What are you exactly trying to tell us? Like the OKC team (drafted by Seattle) with Durant, Westbrook, Harden combined with Ibaka and Sefolosha was not a team of very young and talented draft picks? They did not reach the finals? Kyrie and Love can't reach the playoffs? Steph Curry, Klay Thompson and Draymond Green were not top picks (Green second round) and they won the Chip. By the way, both Bron and Blatt played against them in the finals. Bron wasn't able to win them and Blatt was able to take them to the finals. You will probably see it in the opposite order, but think again.
