The FACTS are that Parsons was a free agent and the 1 year he had at his low salary was short lived. The fact is also that Parsons broke his leg or MCL or whatever last year and so was virtually useless. So why are you assuming Parsons wouldn't have been injured if he played on the Rox? That he wouldn't have been injured is just speculation on your and is a double standard considering you keep burying your head in the sand and ignoring the very real fact that Parsons was let go early because of an under the table agreement. IF we go with facts Parsons would still be injured and so having him last year was useless. Please stop ranting about Chandler, if you love him so much just root for Dallas and be a COF.
This post is so stupid I don't know where to start. Because then I would have to re-explain my point and it's just not worth my time. You guys win we could not have kept him even if we did he'd be injured right now happy? I didn't really care that much about this subject to argue this much about it geez. You guys really hate Parsons point taken. lol
Ariza must have injected him self with some Curry sauce because his on fireeee. Remeber in 2009-10 when he was Mr.Brick-A-3? My how things have changed.
Just read some of this comments on this page. Did I miss out on a good ol Ariza vs Parsons debate?? Ariza for half the price + better defense easily wins it for me. His passing is missed but Smith has picked that up since he came back. I still find it nuts that Lawson isn't getting assist like crazy but I guess we need a post passer like Parsons or Smith, Lawsons too short to pass from the FT line, he has to be ball dominant to get a man open and that just doesn't work well with Harden. I was thinking about the possibility of a FA reunion with Parsons, but I feel his ego, lack of defense, and with a better option in Batum in the market that we wouldn't look at him too hard. I was also thinking about all of this before Ariza started to go off, if Ariza keeps up his play I'd pass on both Batum and Parsons. He is and will stay a half price player compared to them for the next 3 seasons.
There was never a scenario where we could get both. Ariza was signed the moment Bosh left us at the altar and we decided not to lock ourselves in capwise with a Harden-Dwight-Parsons-Bosh core. Both Bosh and Parsons got terminally hurt by the end of last year, so they can suck it.
If he read the post and has gone unconscious because of it then I will gladly eat crow and be happy . **** if Ariza keeps up this shooting he is the best player in the league .
Parsons did not have to go into free agency. Therefore we could have had them both for one year at least. Now there was some speculation that he was allowed to go into free agency a year early because he and his agent helped get Dwight here but I've seen no quote or confirmation from any of the parties involved (If you can find one I will happily stop saying Morey made a mistake letting him go). Until then it's a fact that Morey sent Parsons into free agency a full year before he had to.
Morey himself has mentioned that there were reasons for letting Parsons go into FA early- he could not/did not want to elaborate any further however. This with all the rumours out there - I think it's very likely that his agent had something to do with it. Also had we kept Parsons, I'm pretty sure Ariza would not have signed here in the first place. Doubt he leaves Washington to come off the bench.
Morey didn't think he would command 15 mil. He didn't think Cuban would troll him that badly and I'm sure he intended to match up to a certain point because he told Parsons he would make sure he got paid. Also, Why not sign Ariza when we had room and needed another SF? It's not like we had Brewer then and Ariza's contract is cheap it would be dumb to not go for him. Again even if we didn't go for him the statement "We could have had both of them" is factually true that's all i'm saying, some people just need to get over that. Lastly if you hated Parsons and are glad we didn't keep him fine say that. But comparing the two as if we traded one for the other is shortsighted because we could have had both. The real comparison would be him and Brewer because had he not gone into free agency we would have not traded for Brewer.
Ariza makes 7M, and in FA Parsons makes 15M. So 15+7 i are really gonna pay Howard salary for just 1 position and neither of them are stars? It doesnt make sense esp considering we had holes at other positions. If we kept Parsons and signed ariza for 7m we wouldn be able to keep beverly this year or trade for Josh Smith last year because the rox were capped out. I dont hate parsons but he is ridiculously overpaid, I think he is inferior to Ariza and he makes more than Ariza! Dude never shows up when matched against a defensive sf, he got embarrassed by Batum and now although he scored 30 pts he was negative 20 +/- because he couldnt stop Ariza. Why do u keep pining for an all O no D roleplayer when we already have Harden and Lawson, two all o no d guys? If u want a good what if scenario, the Rox could have had Kawhi, Ariza and Harden at the same time...now thats worth ranting about! But Ariza and Parsons isnt exactly game breaking.
I don't know how many times or ways I can say that Parsons did not have to go into free agency a year early before you understand.
Parsons only would have made 1 mil so thats not true. Secondly I said for one year at least. Who knows then what Morey would have or could have decided. Hell he could've traded him for something of value to a willing team if he agreed to resign with them ahead of time.
Ariza deserves to start and is exactly the type of player we needed at that position. I do agree that we should have opened the wallet some to get him to stay. It is however irrelevant now.
