Nobody hates Lin dude. We just hate his play. And real Rockets fans hated him the playoffs, he made Rafer Alston look like Magic Johnson. He was just a clueless chicken on the court. So when Lin fans actually justified his pitiful play against Portland, we realize they need to be destroyed. You get it now? We fight for the Rockets fans, that's why we're Hakeem status.
Here's the thing about Lin sympathizers, when they resort to personal insults to random internet posters, you know that they have lost. they have ZERO BASKETBALL counterpoints against the real Rockets fans. Hakeem liked Lin a lot as a basketball player. Too bad McHale never used Lin the way Hakeem thought he should.
That's only because you choose to ignore all of the basketball counterpoints. At least McHale had enough sense to give Lin 28 minutes per game. If any of the things you say about Lin were true, there's no way Lin would get that many minutes. The Rockets even traded away Aaron Brooks to solidify Lin's role on the team.
At the rate he's been playing, Lawson would have to average 20pts/game for the next 1.5 seasons to reach his career average over a 2 year span. Do you think he's going to do that? Do you think the Rockets are even going to keep him after this season?
It's not about Lin. That's what player only fans never get. It's about the team. Zboy didn't trade Lin, King1 didn't trade lin, I didn't trade lin. Daryl Morey did. And guess what happened???? Western Conference Finals. Rockets fans get to watch Jason Terry and Prigs play like COMPETENT point guards and MAKE OPEN SHOTS. Lakers didn't keep him either and I don't think the Lakers fans care. Lin fans are the only ones who care about Lin so badly. Before Lin came to the Rockets we had Lin discussions. But nobody would get offended because it was talking among ROCKETS FANS. It's like family, you can call your brother an idiot and it's fine cause it's family. But if some random stranger comes to your house and insults your brother, you want to kick them out I know Clutch has banned a crap load of LOFs. Based on the history of this board and evidence on the Internet, the LOF are the worst fan based known to mankind. I haven't seen him in the playoffs. We got 2 years of Lin. year 1, OKC - crap year 2, Portland -disaster When he gets the ball, he's erratic and unpredictable, when he shoots the ball, you have a feeling it won't go in. Oh, we don't have hundreds of racially charged fans telling us how great Ty Lawson is when he's playing bad. If he sucks we'll say he sucks. If people want to trade him, it's their natural response to his play. When LOFs are on Clutchfans, any criticism of Lin was taken personally. that's call insecurity.
What does any of that have to do what I said? You mean that Trevor Ariza had nothing to do with the Rockets' success last season and in the playoffs? Or Corey Brewer? Or D-Mo having a career year? Lin leaving the team was the ONLY thing that made an impact on the team having more success? See, what irks Lin fans like me is when the haters try to put the whole thing on Lin...it's like you have no knowledge of basketball at all and just want to scapegoat Lin because some extreme fans have irritated you. He sucked in the playoffs. Any Rockets fan can tell you that. Clearly Daryl Morey thought so too because Lin got traded. 'reasonable Lin fans'? That's not even possible. Look at the GARM, look at the heat Harden is getting. No Rockets fans are calling each other 'mean spirited'. Year 1, OKC...yes, his first playoff experience, and he was injured in game 2...came back early because the team needed him, but probably wasn't physically recovered from the injury enough by that time. Instead of praising him for trying to give it a go, you bash him for getting burned by Westbrook (lots of people get burned by Westbrook) year 2, POR...he made 1 mistake that led to Portland tying game 4. Ok, got it. But he did a great job helping win game 5, and he left the court in game 6 with a lead and .6 seconds left on the clock. I also recall that the team overall wasn't playing so well in games 1 and 2...somewhere where Batum made Parsons eat his "I'm the best SF on the court" comment, and Harden's scoring efficiency being pretty far below his regular season performance. See...I am looking at it from a TEAM perspective and recognizing all the factors that went into the series. You, on the other hand, are blindly saying "Lin was garbage". Could he have played better? Perhaps. So could everyone else on the team. The only player I remember playing well from that series was Dwight.
Daryl Morey made a financial decision regarding a $15M contract. It had nothing to do with Lin's performance in the playoffs. And it's not Lin's fault that Harden doesn't have fans to defend him.
Dude. I've been a Rockets fan since forever. I have seen MUCH BETTER point guards. The thing that makes Lin special is not his basketball skills as a point guard. Four teams have let Lin go. The Warriors - they are beyond fine without him The Knicks - they are fine without him The Rockets - they are fine without him The Lakers - they are fine without him This is not like Cleveland losing LeBron to Miami. How does "Lin didn't play like garbage in the playoffs" translate into "I have never seen a better PG"? And has anybody ever said "Lin is on the same level as Lebron"? I am not asking you to sympathize with Jeremy Lin as a basketball player. If you said "the Rockets need a better PG than Jeremy Lin to win a championship", I could discuss and maybe even agree with you. But you said "Jeremy Lin is garbage"..."Jeremy Lin lost the Portland series for the Rockets"..."Jeremy Lin has terrible hair". These are extremist points of view from a basketball perspective. Jeremy Lin was the best PG on the Rockets in his two seasons in Houston. His style of play did not mesh with the franchise player, and he was not talented enough to play outside his style to fit the role they wanted from a PG...so they parted ways. This does not mean that Jeremy is "garbage" or that he single-handedly lost a playoff series for the Rockets. It means the fit wasn't right for both player and team. Same can be said with his time with the Lakers...tho with the Lakers, it was more of a function of the coach and the over-the-hill-superstar being complete asses. Ronnie Price and Jordan Clarkson? Please. In GSW, Lin was a rookie and they stuck gold with Curry and Thompson. No one worries about what happened there because there's no question that Curry and Thompson are deserving to be in their roles. The Knicks...can't see how anyone could think they are fine, either with or without him. You claim to be a basketball fan, but your extremist POV on Lin shows me otherwise.
Everyone in the NBA was a rookie at one point. He got waived because he was a bad ball handler. He even mentions this in that "linsanity" movie of his!
