Keep in mind we have never seen this team with D-Mo, Smoove, Capela and Beverley all healthy and playing.

We played the Warriors fairly well in the WCF without D-Mo and Bev. Howard hobbling too.

If you add D-Mo, Bev, Lawson and Thornton to the WCF series does it make a difference? I bet it does.

The Warriors are hot right now but they're the same team. I think we have a decent chance and that's all you can really ask for.

If we had Bev vs the warriors we win the title last year. Point blank period

Codman hinted there was a possibly of DMo not coming back

Even if DMo was healthy we would need Smith. Capela would be Howard's backup and Smith would have been DMo not Jones. Jones has shown to be a complete negative on defense and not very good on offense especially when it comes to moving the ball.

Dmo played good for two months and then got hurt. The infatuation with him that ppl have on here is mind boggling. In love with player potential but you hate Jones? Lol

p.s. We are now 2-0 with Josh Smith, would be 0-2 without him. Do the math !

Myth? Didn't he play for us last year, not just the playoff, but in the regular season, he was the 2nd or 3rd weapon behind Harden. Don't forget about the defense he bring. There is no myth about Josh. He fits here well and we won with him.

Dmo played so much better and more consistently on both ends of the court during that stretch last year than Jones ever had -- its not player potential its what they have shown on court so yes I hate on Jones because he has not developed any sort of consistency or shown improvement since his rookie season. DMo on the other hand has

It is not the player potential it is the SKILL SET that people love, DMo has an elite level post game.

Name one thing...ONE THING that TJones has that is elite?

Not to mention TJones needs to bounce the ball to be successful, he doesn't fit.

I wouldn't go that far. We would've maybe stolen one of those first two games in Oakland and made it a series. But once Smith collided with Dwight's knee, the Rockets were screwed.

Of course, if Bev had been healthy, then maybe Smith is never in position to collide with Dwight and then history would've been altered.

Josh Smith fits well with the read and react offense this team uses. His success with the Rockets has been predicated of having options for driving and shooting, kicking out to open shooters or passing to cutters. He did not do very well with Doc's system because it was too rigid.

Huh? DMo healthy still can't rebound or defend stronger players. He'll get you a few post buckets, but also give up 2-3 offensive rebounds and get scored on in the paint at will. The Rockets can't be giving up extra possessions because of DMo's softness. We need defense, rebounding & playmaking at the PF position. DMo qualifies only 1 out of 3 of those.

Smooth>>>>>>>Any other PF on the roster

agreed, I think Patman is giving Bev too much credit and the Warriors too little credit.

of course, if Marty and Doc could somehow get the Delorean back to WCF, they could tell McHale to sit Dwight before Smoove can hit his knee. In either case, the Warriors would still have ramped up their efforts regardless and would still have won. Point blank period. ;)

DMo> Smoov (When healthy and at this current stage in their careers).

But they impact the game in different ways, they both add a ton to the chemistry.

    1. Harden trusts them
    2. They move the ball
    3. They move their bodies
    4. They both play D - one is a shot blocker - the other is a great positional defender.

So, while they are not the same player, they both add a ton to this team, and missing either of them hurts.

I assume Morey let him walk because he figured DMo would be here and we had Tjones and Capella - but since the best one of them..DMO was out, it hurt us a ton.

Thus enter Smoov - a good veteran presence that impacts the chemistry and flow of the team in a positive manner on both ends.

A dead on thread. Josh Smith is just a honey mooner and will act out under a championship system coach. He will probably be a problem once the Rockets get a real coach.

Jones has potential? I think that boat sank somewhere within the past few years of consistently getting playing time and the only thing he did well was have wild swings of inconsistency.

People are infatuated with D-Mo because he did in 2 months something Jones has never done

Your too high on DMo. While I've seen him slide over and take a few charges, "great" is a gross exaggeration. I've seen him get abused quite a few times this year as well as last. He's a one dimensional player at this point. The 1 consistency in his game is he's a good post player. Josh Smith has ALWAYS been a great shotblocker, rebounder & overall defender ON TOP of being a decent offensive player. Not to mention his ball handling skills & ability to run pick & roll as a PF.

At the end of the day, Smith is our best PF on the team. He's the most athletic and does all the intangibles better than any other PF on the team.

If he has his head on right. Detroit saw this and offered him a huge contract awhile back. But his head doesn't seem to be right when it comes to better more disciplined coaching.
