Trump is basically suggesting that his followers are like some sort of mindless automatons programmed to follow him. Like the Stepford wives or something. Also, not only does he seem to think that this is a good thing, but he expects his followers to think so to.

And apparently they do. As far as I can see, there is no pushback at all so far from these same followers. In fact, his faithful followers are all out actively defending him for these comments, as far as I can see.

Both major political parties have their diehards. Trump has his, too.

They're Republicans, so this kind of goes without saying.

I like Trump and thank him for his contributions. He is giving racist and xenophobes a platform to expose themselves. Otherwise they would still be hiding amongst us. Now we can see them at his rallies and with their stickers and signs. I hope Trump gives his email list and ticket rolls to the FBI after his campaign is done.

You're right, doing it in public like Donald is the way to go.

As expected, everything I predicted is coming true. Never bet against The Champ - or the Donald.

Inorically, long before this thread started, everyone knew this hungry bear was the smartest guy in the room. You saw feeble attempts by posters wriggling around like worms with small people arguments as some form of meek resistnce, but they've come up flat. And humiliated. It's best to sit back and accept this country is ready for real change.

Trump vs Hillary , let's go.

Trump skipping the debate is going to be HUGE for everyone else, so far it's been impossible for them to look worth a damn sharing a stage with a clown like that. It sucks all the credibility off the stage any time he's there.

Not really. Trump is playing it safe and passing. He has nothing to gain at this point fighting it out when they are all trying to drag him down.

He has a lot to lose though, if they look a lot better without him there acting like an idiot it could help people figure out who they are actually going to vote for because I simply can't believe that people are going to seriously vote for Trump for anything.

Fox News is finally reaping what it sowed. After 20 years of providing quality airtime to bigots, birthers, and bible thumpers - the crux of Trump's new-found fan base or "trumpeters" - the channel has alienated the front-runner of the party for which it has for so long served as the official propaganda wing.

Donald Trump is a despicable human being for his denigrating comments about host Megyn Kelly and for once I applaud Roger Ailes for standing up for something of substance. However, Trump is the monster Murdoch, Ailes, and Fox created by misinforming entire generations of Americans who are now fully brainwashed to follow a demagogue down the road to self-destruction.

Trump is making a smart move by not participating in the Fox News debate on Thurday, for the following reasons:

    1. He has a tendency to make gaffs and it is just a matter of time before he makes one he cannot squirm his way out of. Probably better to coast into the finish of the first contest at this point.
    2. It is typically the challengers that want to debate more than the frontrunner. Trump would be a target for the rest of the field. At this point, he has much less to gain and more to lose.
    3. There have been a number of debates already. Trump has probably debated enough for the time being. Despite the entertainment value of these things, another debate is probably not really necessary right now.
    4. Trump does not have a lot of meat on the bones of his policy ideas. Instead, he just likes to stand up at the podium and troll the American public and call his opponents names. Probably a strategic retreat makes sense at this point.
    5. If he showed up at this debate with Megyn Kelly in the room, it would remind everyone what a misogynist he is, and also that he got his butt kicked on television by a woman, which he surely does not want.

    Well

    1. This IS a gaffe.

    2. He'll still be the target, he just won't be able to say anything in his defense.

    3. Any debate with Trump in it, you might as well put clown noses on everyone on the stage because that's what they all look like up there with him. Getting to do a debate without that moron is HUGE for the real candidates.

    4. And they will all be able to hammer him on that and there won't be anything he can say about it.

    5. Him NOT being there hammers all of that home even more. It also makes him look like a coward on top of being a misogynist who is throwing a temper tantrum because a woman kicked his ass on TV.
