Codman has been pretty solid with what's going in and around the Rockets. He's nowhere close to those few posters you're talking about. He's not going to come out be absolutely direct but he clearly said (hint hint) Dmo is done for this season.
It should have been. Also, odds are they dump some salary with trades in the near future possibly pawning Brewer and Jones off on someone and taking back less, likely expiring, salary which will save plenty of money. When you can upgrade a position for a league minimum salary, you always do it and it was clear that Smith was done in LA a long time ago.
Feel free to pop the cork on your champagne now if you like, but IMO it's too early for you guys to celebrate so you might be just setting yourself up for disappointment when the rumor turns out to be false.
i'm not happy about dmo being out at all. in fact my first thought about newlynn's mchale hugger post was that dmo really deserved playing time in the POR series
I said it multiple times, feel free to search for them if you like. Most of the time it came up was when I was talking about how Jones was likely to be traded. Then someone would shoot back something asking who we would play at PF and I said we'd run Howard/Capela/DMo/ and Harrell. Eventually then someone would complain about me listing Harrell as the 4th big in rotation then I'd say something about how if we wanted to we'd just pick up Josh Smith from the Clippers because he'd been permabenched by Doc. Then someone would say that there was no way the Clippers would trade Smith back to the Rockets, then I'd disagree and so on and so forth. All of this before the trade. I had no "insider" info, it was just obvious.
He did NOT say he was done for the season....shutting it down is what they did, doesn't mean it is FOR the season, probably just had some pain, they wanted to check it out to be sure, and they shut it down and will be bringing him back in a week or so like Morey has said... DD
If you were about to be a FA after the season was over and were facing another surgery which would end your season (only reason why he'd be shut down for the season) why would you keep it a secret? How does that benefit you in any way?
i keep away from the jones discussions here, so never saw them. props to you for even casually calling it though hopefully codman will clarify his comments. but i construe "shutting it down" together with a mention of tmac -- as not good at all again, all i said was our front office typically does not fully disclose injuries and therefore their public statements cannot not be trusted. now if you want to discuss the ingenuity or necessity of their lying then go bang bang on some other poster about that
What team "fully discloses" injuries, whatever that may mean. You made the claim of the FO consistently lying. Context is everything.
which other teams consistently say no problem this player's coming back in a few weeks when they know he's done for the season? this team just did that 9 months ago with dmo. and with tmac as well. and with yao.
Actually I don't think the Rockets did that at all - I think when Dmo was first injured, they thought it was soreness, and until they got further along and did a bit more consulting with doctors the diagnosis changed. I don't believe they KNEW right away last year.... DD
front office didn't announce the surgery until the day before it was performed. it must have been a really urgent procedure for the doctors to have cut him up just 24hrs after making the diagnosis
It is an outpatient procedure, they look at it, the doc says...yeah, I got an opening tomorrow, they operate - takes less than a few hours and DMo goes home. RE: TMac shutting it down comment from Codman - the org never said that - TMAC SHUT HIMSELF down...to get in shape, then searched around for a doctor to agree with him about microfracture surgery - which ended his career...this is sooo different from that. DD
No one on the Rockets has said this. DMorey "Dmo won't be long, sooner than later"| DMo -" About 9 days" So, all the rest is chicken little nonsense. DD
