D-Mo probably has more potential and was very impressive in the limited time he played last season but Jones still has contributed more just by being healthier body. I'm including the playoffs too even though Jones hasn't been impressive in it. Just my opinion though.
Well he was healthy playing in the DLeague and in the NBA - just did not get much playing time, I guess once McHale pulled his head out of his ass and found out he could play it was quite a lot. He has looked like that since he got to Houston, just needed that opportunity to show it. DD
Who is rooting for DMO to be out? We need a healthy Dmo out there on the court, he's that important to this team. I've expressed several times that we need both Jones and Dmo to play big for us this season. I like both of their games. But you have few members who constantly talk down on Jones but overhype Dmo. One cat said if Dmo is done then he will stop watching basketball. That's crazy and it shows he's only here because of Dmo. And that's fine. But don't get mad and start blocking folks or calling them trolls because they talk about Dmo's flaws. Every player in the league has their flaws. Now as far as Josh, yes he was big for us last season. Silly mistake on his part when he left but he's back and will contribute for us again. I've learned you have to take the good and bad with Josh.
I just don't follow the notion that a McHale, an accomplished post player, was holding him back. DMo just sucked and could only fall down on the defensive side. Furthermore, DMo didn't bust out of the gate last season. You have a different narrative than what transpired. No way... That's a delusion if you think DMo always looked like his peak form from last season.
If you look into that study more closely you see that while 25% that had surgery didn't return to the NBA that was only 13% higher than the control group that didn't have surgery. Also, the group that had surgery was only 24 players in this study while the control group was 48 players. That means that both groups had 6 players who didn't return. I don't think you can really draw any negative conclusions from that unless you REALLY REALLY want to in order to push a narrative.
Dmo held himself back. McHale gave him a great chance to prove his worth in his rookie and sophomore seasons. Dmo just didn't capitalize on those opportunities. Now last season he took that opportunity and tan with it, unfortunately he got hurt.
I'm not hearing good things. I hope he's back soon, but it was implied in the ol' TMac wording :"Shutting it Down." JSmoov was needed.
Its not a minor procedure and players have issues that first season...thats what im saying and its exactly whats happening with DMo.
Here we go SO much for Maury just holding DMO out to pump up TJ trade value That is one of the worst things I've ever heard. Not surprised it came from Bobby. Same guy who said GSW would struggle to make the playoffs this season
I posted he wasn't coming back way earlier in this thread. I can't tell you how I randomly came to know this but I posted it. I wasn't screwing around.
With the emergence of Smoove, gives the team Dmo enough time to get as ready as he can. I think they'll to see where they stand at the beginning of April and see if they can make a real run at this thing.
Damn well if dmo is shut down then we need a starting power forward. I love smoove but he is a 6th man.
Of course he's out. Rockets tell you one thing, you better assume the worst. "He'll be back soon." Translation: He's done for the season. Daryl: It's just a pain management thing. Sooner rather than later. Now he's being shut down.
The only way he'd be shut down for the season is if the surgery failed and he was about to do it again. That's incredibly rare so I'll wait till I hear something like that before getting worked up by speculation.
Unfortunately, I think DMo is going to be the odd man out, that with the fact that he's in a contract year along with trying to get healthy... I have a feeling Jones will be gone also.... I tried to tell you guys, that it would take DMo at least a year to even close to his old self... back injuries are nothing to play with and they take a lot of time to heal. T_Man
