i like josh. but he's not that athletic, high flying dunk contest winner any more. and he's inconsistent as hell.

he's a good player and good guy to have around - but only for the right price. idk what the right price is, but it's certainly not 17 mils per.

(and btw, josh played "elite defense"? haha, since when? has he ever?)

Being a focus of the offense like he was in Detroit yes we would probably want him run out of town too.

But as a backup 20-25 minutes a game he can absolutely take over.

Smith and Brewer are very similar to me, as high usage starters they were kicked out of town with their gambling and poor shooting.

But as bench energy guys they are amazing. As long as they stay within that role they will be succesful as they were. And both are wise to resign in Houston where that role is available.

first off, smith with this team was not and will not be a problem in the locker room... he's got his best bud in Dwight with him so how could he be?

as far as his play and fit with this team... the only bad plays I can think of were times when he tried bringing the ball up court and the occasionally terrible throw it up 3 that doesn't come thru the offense ran... his good plays... like the capability of making a cross court pass on a dime to for an open 3 in the corner and being able to create his own shot I think far outweigh his bad plays

what we saw in the Dallas series and the end of the clippers series is exactly what I expect from him if we retain him... lest we forget, before the playoffs him and Dwight had played like a total of 15-20 games together... imagine if they had time to really develop their chemistry... im certain that we will resign him, especially if we lose out on the LMA sweepstakes

draymond is a much much much better team defender, which allows him to play center, and plays within himself so he doesn't really have games where he implodes his own team's offense.

J Smoove is getting paid 7 million a year by the dumbass pistons for 2 more years, the Rockets can pay him the minimum and he will still be among the best paid 6-7th men off the bench. He was a steal when we got him and his total compensation each year will be above average cuz the Pistons overpaid to get him and still are now that he is valuable to a team that helps bring out the best in him. I Think he stays cuz he wants the best shot at a championship

Funny, listing thing's Smith might be better than DMo, but ignoring things like shooting, post up, etc.. and most important DMo was starting and Smith was his backup.. you are definitely non-biased

Good to have him back. Now we have at least 4 players who can handle the ball.

Bingo... Good post. With low expectations, Smooth is great. If you want to win a championship, I'm not so sure he can be a significant piece. I hope I'm wrong.

Josh is one of the more constants among inconsistent role players

You are wrong that you think the pieces around Harden and Howard should be automatically perfect.

First of all the stars should strive for perfection and not the other way round.

Remind me of Andre Iguodala, he is a totally different player in playoffs.

Offensively he's an extremely volatile player from game to game, so I don't think he has much of an impact despite his passing wizardry from last night. He'll help some games and he'll hurt in others. Really a few guys like that off the bench are just what a contender needs.

But defensively he's still very valuable. He isn't the elite defensive stopper he once was, but he's still good. And given how poor Jones and Harrell have been defensively, being good looks like spectacular. D-Mo is getting the same bump, by merely being average to above average on defense, he looks like a beast compared to Jones.

I really don't think you can call Smith underrated, 2 teams paid him to go away. But he can be a very useful rotation player on a team that utilizes him.

Very under rated. He made all the troubled players become better. Ariza, jones, Lawson all played better today.

One man's trash is another man's treasure. Scalpel is useless to a mechanic but most important to a surgeon

Not sure if mentioned but he should 100 percent of the time be our inbounds passer on plays.

If you somehow prevented Josh from shooting the basketball he'd be a very good player.

True JSmith play of passing the ball makes playing the game fun again and easier for the rest of the team. His passing makes the offense flow and the rest of players do the same in return. I am glad his back, will see IF Morey still pulls the trigger on another trade on the trading deadline.
